Chad Wienen 2013 ATV Motocross Pro Champion |
Buchanan, MI (8/6/2013)
- Chad Wienen secured his second consecutive
AMA National Championship on Saturday at the
ninth round of the AMA Mtn. Dew ATV MX National
Championship Series. The round was held at Red
Bud in Buchanan, Michigan and Wienen rode his
fist perfect race of the season by going 1-1
to cinch both the round win and the championship.
We had a few candid minutes to talk to the champ
and find out how it really feels to add another
title to his name.
ATVriders.com: How big was it for you to wrap up the championship here at Red Bud?
Chad
Wienen: It’s almost surreal. The season has gone by so fast; we’ve had so many bad events with all the rain, I just worked to stay consistent. I’ve always wanted to do it here at Red Bud. It’s a dream come true! I have so many friends and family here watching, it’s my favorite track and I am just stoked. Red Bud is such a historic track and I just can’t explain how happy I am.

Wienen celebrated his second consecutive Pro ATV Motocross Championship at Red Bud with his teammate Thomas Brown & his friends & Family |
ATVriders: This is the first time this season that you have gone 1-1; how does it feel to finally get those perfect motos?
Chad
Wienen: I told my team I was going to uncork it this weekend and go for the 1-1. I wanted to seal this thing up right. Everything felt good coming into the weekend; I had a really good feeling about it. I had an awesome start in the first moto and that set me up for a great second moto. It’s not an easy thing this year to go 1-1; the competition is so stiff and everyone’s on an awesome level. Hats off to the guys, they put up a great fight this year. Consistency really paid off for me.

Chad Wienen placed 1-1 at Red Bud to wrap up the 2013 Pro ATV Motocross Championship aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV |
ATVriders: You got your seventh straight win today; that means your broke Doug Gust’s win record. How does that make you feel?
Chad
Wienen: That’s awesome. That is a big milestone and I really didn’t even know that I was anywhere close. That’s a tough deal, and to follow in Gust’s footsteps is awesome. He’s an amazing guy and to take it from him is a real honor.
