ATVRiders.com:
now that you aren’t racing full time,
what are some of your hobbies that you are
doing to occupy some of your time?
Bill Ballance:
just spending some time with my family and
my girls. They play ball and I’ve been
doing some assisting with the coaching and
try to be at the games with them and try to
be the daddy that I should be. For myself,
when I have a few moments or a day to myself,
I’m usually out on the bass boat trying
to catch something.

Just
a few years ago, Bill moved into his
newly built home on the family farm |
ATVRiders.com:
You also have a pretty nice hotrod car don’t
you?
Bill Ballance:
Yeah, I have a ’68 Camaro that’s
got a big block in it. It’s a pretty
fast ride and I go out and play with that.
It was something I started working on about
three or four years ago. I would go out and
work on it just whenever I had time. I finally
got it done and now it’s just like everyone
says, when you get it done, it’s time
to sell it and maybe start on a new one or
something. The fun part is building something.

Bill
Ballance restored a 1968 Chevy Camero
in his free time, but he now ready to
sell it & start on another project,
so if anyone is interested, I suggest
hitting him up at the track |
ATVRiders.com:
Besides your family, fishing and your car,
you are also an avid hunter. Have you been
able to get much hunting in over this past
winter?
Bill Ballance:
Actually I got to do very little hunting this
year. I had so much going on with getting
the team together and getting sponsors together
and everything like that. I did get to go
on a hunt in Texas and do a TV hunt. That
was pretty fun. I also got to go hunting twice
with my little girl and dad this year and
that’s all the hunting that I did. Usually
being in the woods 30-40 times a season is
my norm, but the team management has cut into
my hunting a little bit. It hasn’t taken
over my fishing yet so I’m still ok.
ATVRiders.com:
Do you have any trophies from hunting and
fishing?
Bill Ballance:
When I was younger, in high school and middle
school I was on a national air rifle team,
I competed in for three years. I won regionals
all three years and then I got fifth one year
in nationals, which was pretty good out of
about 3000 shooters. It was a lot of fun and
something I enjoyed when I was younger.

ATVRiders.com:
You also have some pretty impressive mounts
on your wall at home and you are an avid bow
hunter.
Bill Ballance:
When it comes to deer, I prefer to bow hunt.
Even when we did the TV hunt in Texas, the first
thing I asked is if I could bring my bow instead.
The challenge of doing it with archery is something
I just really enjoy. I have a few good deer
heads on the wall from it.
ATVRiders.com:
Have you gotten any big scores?
Bill Ballance:
I haven’t gotten any monsters but I
did pass up some that I probably should have
taken because I had my hopes on something
bigger, but I’ve got one forty and a
couple of one thirty bucks on the wall right
now, but I’m still after that big one.
ATVRiders.com:
besides racing and everything else you are
doing, are you still involved with the family
farm?
Bill Ballance:
I do try to help my dad a couple times a year
but racing is pretty much time consuming for
me but there are a couple times a year when
they are harvesting and just really swamped
and I try to help out as much as I can. I
do enjoy going out there because I can go
out there and there is no stress.
ATVRiders.com:
Bill thanks for talking with us today. It
has been a pleasure and we wish you the best
in Indiana.
Bill Ballance:
Thank you!
