2015 Yamaha Viking 700 VI Review

2015 Yamaha Viking VI Review
::Continued::

There is plenty of leg room in the Viking VI with solid floor boards that have been given a good tread pattern to help keep feet safely in place. The purpose for the Viking VI is to transport people as well as to make it an enjoyable and safe ride. Keeping safety in mind, Yamaha made sure that the roll cage in the Viking VI was fully ROPS compliant.

One of the first things we would like to point out is while the Yamaha Viking VI is based on the original Viking. There have been many changes made to the frame and other components, so it isn’t just a stretched out Viking with an extra row of seats.  Yamaha has made changes throughout the Viking to accommodate the 31.5 inch increase in the wheelbase over the original Viking. Our biggest concern was how this longer wheel base would affect maneuverability, but we were surprised and impressed at how well the Yamaha Viking VI handled.

The electronic power steering was very precise and predictable, and we were able to thread the Viking VI through fairly tight sections of the trails on our test drive with ease, and the steering was effortless.

Even with the longer chassis the Yamaha Viking VI still handles vary well

The longer wheel base does increase the turning radius by over five feet from the original Viking, but it was still impressively pretty tight for a longer machine. Its length also decreases cresting abilities a bit, but for us, the handling of this machine is what sold us on it.
