2010 Yamaha YFZ 450X ATV Bill Ballance Edition
2010 Yamaha YFZ450X ATV Cross Country Test Ride Review

::Continued::

The YFZ450X also comes with new, lighter wheels that have an inner rolled lip to help keep them light weight while still maintaining strength and the stock tires hooked up well, giving plenty of traction when needed, but were also easy to break loose and slide when we wanted them to.

For 2010, the YFZ450X & YFZ450R both have black radiator shrouds, but the new Bill Ballance Edition YFZ 450X comes with white radiator shrouds along with a white gas tank cover. Also, it features the quick release fasteners, which eliminates the need to use any tools to remove the fenders. These are also available for purchase to upgrade the YFZ450R & X

The YFZ450X is available in three different color schemes: a traditional Yamaha blue, an eye catching red and white version and the Bill Ballance edition. Nine time GNCC champ Bill Ballance is the first racer to have a manufacturer design a signature series quad and full line of accessories in his honor, and as it should, the Ballance edition comes with a few added goodies such as a blue frame, a gold D.I.D. chain, silver wheels, quick release fasteners, and a Bill Ballance edition bumper and graphics. The Bill Ballance line of accessories leaves little to be desired as it includes nerf bars, foot pegs, case savers, and bumpers.

Yamaha's Bill Ballance has won 9 straight GNCC Pro ATV Championships, and the past five have been with Yamaha, and for 2009 nearly half the GNCC Pro ATV racers are on Yamaha 450 ATVs, which is pretty significant considering their are 6 different brands represented in the GNCC Pro ATV class

Yamaha also offers up a full line of GYTR products for the new YFZ450X that have been tested to ensure high performance and durability. For those who crave more power, a full exhaust and slip on system are already available for the YFZ450X as well as a high compression piston, a ported head assembly, and clutch components. A full line of skid plates and under armor is also available to protect the under side of your machine for those who like to play rough. Other accessories from the GYTR line include nerf bars, bumpers, grab bars, shock covers and even graphics kits to trick out your machine.

The Big Buck track layout out provided a great opportunity to really test the YFZ450X in a real world environment that matches what most trail riders & XC racers will experience, so Yamaha picked the perfect location to test the YFZ450X

Our overall opinion of the Yamaha’s new YFZ450X is very good. Yamaha has once again put out a quality sport ATV that provides a smooth, powerful ride and has the suspension to handle it. We think this is a great quad for everyday trail riders and racers alike, as it offers a comfortable ride for those long scenic trips, but has the power to be competitive on the track as well. It is sad to see the original YFZ450 put out to pasture, but Yamaha has definitely put out a replacement that is far superior in every way.
