Many of the trails, including the Pocahontas trail, were built using existing coal and lumber service roads on corporate and private lands. The rocky trails feature not only many elevation changes, but also spectacular views overlooking the surrounding area.

Electronic Power Steering improves handling & reduces the effort it takes to steer |
Originally introduced on the 2012 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 EPS, electronic power steering was added to many of the Brute Force Utility ATV models. Electronic power steering gives the Brute Force ATV lighter steering with little effort. We found the electronic power steering worked very well on the rocky Pocahontas trails. Not only does the electronic power steering take less effort, it also reduces kick back. We hit several large rocks along the trail, that without power steering, the handlebars would have been yanked out of our hands.

The 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition's V-twin engine is at home on the highspeed trails at Hatfield McCoy Trail System |
The electronic power steering also improves the overall handling. We found that on other ATV models the steering can get a little too light at higher speeds. This was not the case with the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV. The machine was very stable even at high speeds riding over rough obstacles.
It is amazing how much power the V-twin 749cc engine produces. The Pocahontas trails featured a nice mix of high speed winding wooded trails, where we could really get on the gas. With a light push of the throttle the Brute Force 750 4x4 Utility ATV comes to life with immediate power. Despite its heavy weight, the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV has enough power to pull a wheelie. If you are a sport ATV guy or gal, you will enjoy the hard-hitting power of the Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Utility ATV.

Four-wheel-drive came in handy in both the mud & on the rugged rocky trails at the Hatfield McCoy - Pocahontas Trails |
Although we did ride some of the moderate trails on the Pocahontas trail system, we did get to experience some black diamond or “Extremely Difficult” trails. For these trails, we chose to take full advantage of four-wheel-drive. There are several trails within the Hatfield McCoy Trail System that can test both man and machine. One trail in particular featured an uphill climb with a challenging 2.5 foot stair step rock in the middle. It took a little skill, but the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV had no problem climbing up the rocky hill and over the stair step ledge to reach the top in four-wheel-drive.

Despite its heavy weight, the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 is still capable of catching some air |
The engine braking on the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV worked extremely well going down steep hills at Hatfield McCoy’s. With a combination of engine braking and standard braking, we were able to slow the Brute Force down to a halt without wearing out it's brake pads.
There were several spots along the trail where we could catch air on the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV. The shocks did a decent job of soaking up the rough terrain, but we did bottom out a couple times while landing off large jumps, but please keep in mind the Kawasaki Brute Force is not made for jumping.

The Ashland ATV Resort is just off of the Pocahontas / Indian Ridge trail & has many cabins & campsites available |
The 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV’s ergonomics are very comfortable. The controls are all located in easy-to-reach locations. The parking brake in particular is very easy to operate and engage with only one hand, which came in handy many times when stopping on hills. There are also three storage compartments on the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV that held several water bottles and other items for our ride.
Overall, the 2013 Kawasaki Brute Force 750 4x4 EPS Special Edition ATV was a blast to ride on the Pocahontas Trails at Hatfield McCoys Trail System. The powerful engine and great handing was a great match for the rugged terrain of the Appalachian Mountains.
