2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 EPS Review

2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 Review
::Continued::

The Honda Pioneer 1000 also offers over 10 inches of suspension up front and in the rear, and it has an over 12 inches of ground clearance, which provide for a very comfortable drive with plenty of ground clearance for driving off road over rough terrain. While the suspension isn’t adjustable, it performed extremely well on our test drive and it well tuned for work and play. Also, the Pioneer 1000-5 is available with a self-leveling suspension in the rear, which is a big bonus when having a full load of passengers or cargo in the rear.

All the Honda Pioneer 1000 models come with 27” tires, and they are mounted on 12” steel wheels on all the machines besides the Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe, which comes with 14” aluminum wheels and Maxxis Bighorn radial tires. The Maxxis Big Horn tires mounted on the aluminum wheels held up great for us during our two days of driving through the various terrain for over 100 miles, which is no surprise because this is a great tire, but it is not the same tire that is supposed to come on all the machines from the factory besides the Pioneer 1000-5 Deluxe. We don’t know why Honda opted for us not to test out the steel wheels and base line tires for our test drive, so we can’t predict how well they will perform or hold up as compared to what we tested.

One thing is for sure, we highly recommend spending the extra money to get the EPS (Power Steering) equipped models because it does make a huge difference in the handling performance of the vehicle. For the Honda Pioneer 1000 EPS, the retail price starts at $15,199, which is $1,200 more than the base model, but not only does it come with the EPS, it adds the tilt steering wheel, paddle shifters, sport mode, and the colored body panels, which really add to the looks of the Pioneer 1000. There are some significant upgrades for the price and well worth the added investment.

In conclusion, the 2016 Honda Pioneer 1000 model lineup is the best addition yet to the Pioneer family as Honda continues to innovate and provide consumers with some industry first features, which makes it a great option for consumers looking for a high performance multipurpose SxS / UTV that is right at home for work and play.
