2015 Can-Am Maverick Turbo Review

2015 Can-Am Maverick Turbo Review
::Continued::

The Can-Am Maverick Turbo comes standard with FOX 2.5 Podium RC2 shocks that have a new bottom out control and are fully adjustable.

FOX Podium Shocks
The FOX 2.5 Podium RC2 shocks features adjustments for Dual Speed Compression (DSC), rebound and dual rate spring with infinite preload allowing to fine tune the system for any driving style, terrain or course conditions

Due to my racing background, I really wanted to push the Can-Am Maverick Turbo to its limits and see what it could do, and did we ever! The Can-Am Maverick features a tri-mode power steering system, so you can fine tune the amount of power steering. I set it to the Max setting for the most assist, and headed out to the dunes.

CanAm Maverick Turbo Sand Dunes
The tri-mode power steering system worked great out in the sand dunes which made the steering almost effortless

Now everyone knows that in sand horsepower is king, but what I noticed instantly was the TORQUE! This thing threw you back in the seat and came alive instantly when stepping on the gas! I was really surprised to notice that there was not any “Turbo Lag” that you hear about with a turbo charger. The power was strong and this thing kept pulling from the bottom to the top.

With the added turbo, the 2015 Can-Am Maverick Turbo has an abundant amount of torque that pushes you back in your seat when you get on the gas!

Now with all of this power, I knew that the Can-am Maverick Turbo better have the suspension to back it up. We headed out over a long section of the sand whoops and I quickly noticed that the factory shock settings just weren’t up to par to handle the weight of two big guys and the size of these high-speed whoops. We stopped and grabbed the tool kit and proceeded to adjust the shocks. We stiffened the Hi and Low speed compression adjustments and lowered the cross over collars so that the main spring would kick in faster and avoid the bottoming out of the shocks.

After we played with the adjustments on the suspension, we were able to create a smoother ride, which left some of the other drivers in the dust when drag racing!

With the faster engagement of the main spring, we also slowed down the rebound to prevent that bucking feel. I am pleased to say that these adjustments did just the trick and eliminated the issues we were having. I was amazed that we had enough adjustment in the factory shocks to be able to solve or suspension issues.
