Claims the Round 5 Overall Win
|
Fort McDowell, AZ - Baldwin Motorsport’s
Josh Upperman claimed the overall win at Grinding
Stone Stone Motocross for round 5 of the DWT World
ATV Motocross Championship Series.
The Arizona stop on the series attracted some
new faces with Mushin Racing’s Jeffrey Rastrelli
and Thomas Brown making the long trip out from
training in Florida, and for the 16 year old Rastrelli,
he would be making his Pro ATV class debut less
than one year after moving up from the mini quad
ranks, but with multiple mini championships under
his belt along with several first place finishes
in the AMA Production A Class in 2009, this would
be a great opportunity for him to hone his skills
prior to the start of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross
series, where he will run in the Pro-Am Production
Class

Missing from the line-up this weekend would be
several of the Motoworks /Can-Am racers with Josh
Frederick and Dillon Zimmerman both taking a break
from racing as they prepare for the start of the
2010 WORCS ATV racing season, which begin in just
one week at Speed World Motocross in Arizona.
Also, Jeremie Warnia has headed home to France
to prepare for the famous Le Toque ATV beach race
in France, which will be held on February 6th,
so Chad Wienen was the lone Pro ATV racer under
running out the Motowork’s rig this weekend.

Josh Upperman grabbed Holeshot in Moto One |
In the first Moto, the battle was on for the
Holeshot between Josh Upperman and Kody Evans
as they ran wheel to wheel to the first turn with
Upperman claiming the Holeshot by not letting
off heading into the turn followed by Evans and
Chad Wienen.
By the end of lap one, Wienen moved into the
second spot right behind Upperman as the battle
was on for the lead once again with Upperman leading
the way early in race, but for Yamaha’s
Thomas Brown the race was already over when he
blew out his clutch, which left him with a DNF.
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Rastrelli was obviously dealing
with some pro class butterflies as he missed his
brake pedal and over launched a jump, which sent
him tumbling into Kody Evans in the third spot.
Rastrelli was left sidelined for several laps
before returning to the race with Evans resuming
in the fourth spot.

Mark Watson claimed a season best 2nd place
in Moto 2 |
Near the halfway point, Can-Am’s Chad Wienen
made the pass for the lead, and held till the
tenth lap when he experienced mechanical issue
with pro-type part, which left him sidelined and
allowed PEP Racing’s Josh Upperman to reclaim
the lead and the Moto one win.
KTM’s Mark Watson would amazingly claim
the second spot despite his shift level falling
off late in the race, which left him unable to
shift, and he was followed by Kody Evans in third.
