Motos for Win
|
Mesquite, Nevada - The DWT World
ATV Motocross Championship Racing Series kicked
off Saturday December 12th at Mesquite MX in Nevada,
and Motoworks / Can-Am’s Chad Wienen swept
the first two motos of the season to claim the win
followed by his teammate, Jeremie Warnia and Baldwin
Motorsports, Josh Upperman rounded out the Pro ATV
Podium.
The weather was lease than desirable leading
up to the opening round of the DWT World ATV MX
Series with mountain snow and below average temperatures
in the valley with rain, but fortunately, the
rain held off till mid-afternoon on Saturday for
Round 1,which allowed for two dry pro motos.

Baldwin's
Josh Upperman claimed the Moto One Holeshot
with Chad Wienen applying the pressure |
The opening round attracted a 11 Pro ATV racers
from around the country with Baldwin’s Josh
Upperman making the long trip from Ohio to compete
in the first weekend of racing, and he immediately
made his presence known by grabbing the moto one
holeshot. Upperman would hold the lead for a while
before Chad Wienen would make the pass for the
lead.
With a 25 minute moto plus 2 laps, endurance
was key, and “Wide Open” Wienen never
let off as he ran away with the easy moto one
win. Upperman would hold onto the 2nd spot, but
he was feeling the pressure from Jeremie Warnia
for entire moto, but Warnia was unable to make
the pass and settled for the third spot, and rounding
out the top five was MCR’s Beau Baron &
Josh Row.
United Kingdom’s Mark Watson was back again
to test his skills in the USA, and he finished
6th place in moto one on his KTM ride.

Josh
Frederick & Robbie Mitchell lock wheels
in Moto One |
Can-Am’s Josh Frederick & Kawasaki’s
Robbie Mitchell locked wheels when Robbie Mitchell
rode up over Frederick’s axle, which put
the pair a lap down in moto one.
Unfortunately for Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson,
he wasn’t able to get off the starting gate
after an electrical issue kept him from getting
his quad to start, which left him sidelined for
the entire moto.
