Waters won the race despite taking hard shot
to the face in a crash. The get off required him
to get stitches in his forehead, but it didn’t
stop him from finishing the race.

Justin
Waters secured his second win of the season
at Sand Hollow, which now has him leading
the points with Brian Sirevaag not being
able to race this weekend in ProAm after
a bad wreck on Saturday |
“Unfortunately my face has really taken a beating
this year,” said Waters of his second victory
this season. “I got 10 stitches in my lip at South
Point and now it looks like I’m going to have
a few stitches in my eyebrows from Sand Hollow.
Even though my face has taken a beating, this
year has been really good. The course was brutal.
It wasn’t so much physically demanding, but you
had to use your head to know where you were on
the course. Rocks were hidden in the sand and
drop offs were everywhere. It was just hard to
keep a good pace and not catch something.”

Justin
Waters looked like he just finished a boxing
match more than a race at Sand Hollow with
two major cuts above his eyes |
Logan Huff overcame electrical problems to record
his third podium of the season. He moved to second
in points, ahead of Sirevaag.
|
Logan
Huff has really stepped it up this season
in the Pro-Am class & he scored his
third podium finish of the season with a
2nd place |
“I had a problem with my kill switch,” explained
Huff. “I had to take off my gloves and twist some
wires together. So I had to ride two laps without
gloves. I came in for gas, came out third and
got second right after that. After that I pretty
much accepted a second-place finish.”
Duncan Racing’s Ricardo Gonzalez should be given
a special Iron Man award for his third-place finish.
Gonzalez broke his collarbone at the last race
in Lake Havasu and rebounded to claim his first
Pro-Am podium finish when he was originally only
planning to ride around and salvage some points
|
Ricardo
Gonzalez battled early on with Kyle Fuller
for the 2nd spot, but unfortunatley, Fuller
had a get off, which ended his charge for
a podium finish.. Gonzalez held on to claim
his first Pro-Am WORCS podium finish in
third place |
“I didn’t know what to expect from this round;
I was just coming to have fun and get some points,”
said Gonzalez. “I got off to a good start and
kept it going the whole race. It’s not actually
healed yet, but every time I race I just want
to be out front.”
The ATVs will join the motorcycles in the next
WORCS race May 6-8 in Mesquite, NV.
