Olympia, WA (8/8/2015) – David Haagsma made it three for four Sunday, winning the WORCS Pro ATV race to go along with his wins in the WORCS X Pro ATV and Pro SxS classes at Straddleline ORV Park for Round 7. Beau Baron once again claimed the second spot behind his teammate, Haagsma, and Robbie Mitchell rounded out the WORCS Pro ATV Podium. Mike Sloan wrapped up the Pro-Am Championship with his eighth straight win of the season.

While most racers look forward to this round for its cool and damp conditions, this weekend was anything but normal. With record high temperatures in the 90s and low humidity, “dust” was the word of the day on Sunday with the driest summer on record for the Washington state.

LMR Racing’s Robbie Mitchell grabbed a dominate holeshot, and he held the lead the first lap, but dropped back to second place when he was confused about the track layout through the WORCS-X, which allowed Haagsma to take the lead.

Sparks Racing’s David Haagsma hit a tree later in the lap, handing the lead back Mitchell. One lap later, Haagsma took the lead for good with Baron charging behind him. Baron’s bike stalled, though and Haagsma cruised to victory.

“There was a lot of action in this race,” said Haagsma. “This is not my forte. I am not comfortable in the trees at all, but the bike worked great and I just tried not to make mistakes. I thought Beau had me, but he seemed to have a mishap and I just cruised the final three laps. The Elka suspension and Maxxis Tires gave us a lot of traction through the corners that others didn’t have. They really made a difference in the race.”

Haagsma now owns a 10-point lead going into the next round at Glen Helen, but the title chase is far from over. “This is going to be a battle to the end,” explained Haagsma. “Beau is good at every race, so I’m not comfortable with my lead at all.”
