Heavy rain soaked the course overnight but dried
out a bit before the Pro and Pro-am ATV classes,
making for near perfect conditions for the start
of the race, but heavy rain moved in during the
middle of the race, which dramatically changed
the track and presented a new challenge to the
racers. Also, the WORCS-X section was an added
with a mixture of logs and tires to challenge
the racers along with a new tight section of track
added on the other side of the railroad tracks
was a welcomed challenge for the racers.

Maxxis’ David Haagsma got off to a second place
start behind his team mate Beau Baron, and the
battle was on for the lead as the pair swapped
the lead back and forth, which made for one of
the most exciting races of the year.

“I had a good start and I was behind Beau and
I got by him just before the enduro section. It
started pouring rain after that and when we came
around again, I couldn’t see and overshot a jump
and slid at the bottom and he passed me back.
He pulled a gap on me but the second to last lap,
I pinned it and got close enough I got by when
he had to stop and pit. He was on me the whole
last lap and it was super close at the end and
it was almost his race but I got the win. I’m
pretty pumped now that I got the win,” said Haagsma.
