Maxxis Tires / H&M Motorsports’ David
Haagsma was looking strong as he got off to a
good start. Haagsma stayed close to leaders, and
made his move on the off-road truck course to
                                pass Zimmerman for the lead.

Spark Racing's #422 David Haagma held the
lead for several laps before dropping back
to the 4th spot | Haagsma took over the lead and lead for several
laps. Haagsma was pushing hard to keep Josh Frederick
at bay, but Haagsma developed huge blisters on
his hands and was having difficulty hanging on
and eventually fell back. “It felt great to be out there in the lead,
but I was having trouble hanging on and I started
to fall back. I still had a good race and I’m
happy with where I finished,” said Haagsma,
who would end his day in fourth.

                                      Yamaha's #417 Josh Row secured a Top 5 finish
at Buffalo Bill's | Yamaha’s Josh Row was in third off the
start and was looking as if he may be a contender
for the podium. Unfortunately for Row, a steering
stabilizer issue forced him to pull off the track
and lose ground. Row disconnected the stabilizer
and continued to race, but it was a much rougher
ride and it took its toll. “It kind of started
to bother my shoulders a bit, but I just kept
going,” said Row, who hung on to round out
the top five. Robbie Mitchell got a decent start as well and
rode a solid race from start to finish. Mitchell
stayed the course and claimed the number six spot
at the checkered flag followed by Mike Cafro in
the seventh spot. Can-Am/Motoworks’ Dillon Zimmerman grabbed
the holeshot and held the lead early in the race,
but unfortunately his charge would end when he
encountered issues early in the race that sent
him to the pits. Zimmerman continued to race settled
in for an eighth place finish. Justin Waters was able to fix his drain plug
issue that caused him to miss the start. Waters
was not able to gain much ground, but did finish
within the top ten in ninth place, while Kyle
Grosse rounded out the top ten. Tim Shelman broke
an axle late in the race that put an early end
to his day and Dustin Clark was only able to finish
three laps before mechanical issues too him out
of commission. In the Pro-am class, Garrin Fuller charged hard
to take the win. Fuller came from the middle of
the pack and made his way to the front, despite
some tough competition and dusty conditions. Fuller
took the win over Collins Webster, who claimed
                                second.

 | Cody Mitchell charged his way to the final spot
on the podium, finishing close behind Webster.
Keith Johnson was looking good as he held the
early lead, but a crash a took the wind out of
his sails and he would hang on to finish in fourth,
while David Flores rounded out the top five. Round three of the 2012 WORCS series will be
heading to Lake Havasu for one of its most popular
rounds of the series on March 16th – 18th
where it will be an all-out battle for the top
                                of the podium. |
