2013 TORN Racing Round #7 - Triple R Ranch October 12, 2013 Combine, TX

Combine, TX (10/28/2013) – It was another fun weekend in Combine, TX with the 7th round of the TORN Off-Road racing series. Saturday had the ATV racing and Sunday brought one of the best UTV races of the season. There was a total of 42 UTVs at the race which continued the steady increase of riders throughout the year. The track was filled with ups and downs with several off-camber sections and multiple table tops to fly the large machines through the air. Lots of fast open sections made for good passing opportunities and with all the expert class point leaders there and ready to battle, there was no way of knowing who would come out on top.

Saturday during the quad races , it rained over an inch which led to slick track conditions at the beginning of practice on Sunday morning. As the racers practiced, the track began to tack up but it wasn’t long before an hour of misty rain made the track even slicker for the start of the race. The starting line was stacked with Josh Hess on the inside, Curtis Kirchmeier next to him, Shawn Hess from Hess Motorsports sitting in the 3rd spot, followed by the two Miller brothers Hunter and Cody, and right beside them was round 6 winner, Cross Kirchmeier.

The flagger gave the sign to kill the engines and then silence filled the air. As he waved the flag the sound of engines cranking was loud and everyone got a good jump and filled the first corner quickly. Hunter Miller took the holeshot followed by Curtis Kirchmeier, Cody Miller, Shawn Hess, Cross Kirchmeier, then the rest of the pack.
