Shawn Hess Wins TORN Triple R Ranch UTV Race
::Continued::

Half way through the first lap the top 5 were bumper to bumper when Cross Kirchmeier hit a bad chug hole with his RZR 800 and bent the front end making it hard to control so he backed out of the throttle. Then Curtis Kirchmeier ran in second behind Hunter Miller until he landed hard enough off a jump that his side by side went into neutral and caused Cody Miller to get around him.

On the second lap the leader had a mechanical issue. The sway bar of Hunter Miller’s Can-am Maverick broke. That gave Cody Miller  the chance to pass for the lead. Soon Curtis Kirchmeier’s car started making an odd noise, so he let Shawn Hess pass so he could listen to his car. On the next lap in an open field section, Shawn Hess pushed Hunter Miller wide on a corner which let both Shawn Hess and Curtis Kirchmeier pass Hunter Miller, Moving Hunter from second to fourth in one turn.

At the end of the lap when Curtis Kirchmeier came through the scoring area he stopped to check and see if anything was broke on his RZR 800 when Hunter Miller passed by taking third place from Kirchmeier. Soon after that, Cody Miller was leading when his sway bar broke letting Shawn Hess put his Polaris RZR 900 XP into first and allowing him to hold the lead until the finish line and increasing his points lead over the rest of the field.

“It was one of the roughest tracks of the year!” Hunter Miller explains, “But still 95% of the cars finished.”

There were other intense races in the other UTV classes. Like the battle in the UTV Intermediate class between Brian Reiter and Eric Hess, Both driving Polaris RZR 900s. They passed up into 5th in the expert class and were battling back and forth until the drive belt broke on Eric Hess’ Polaris RZR 900. And the order the drivers in the 800cc class finished left only a one point difference between Jodi Stewart in first place and Mark Tate in second.

There is one more race in the series taking place in Frost, Texas on November 10. It looks like the championship will have to be decided there meaning it should be another amazing race.
