Pro UTV Race Report
::Continued::
Kyle Chaney started on the third row and had
to make his way through the field before challenging
VanEperen at the end. Though he definitely wants
a victory, his six runner-up finishes still place
him first in the title chase by 12 points.
|
Can-Am's
Kyle Chaney gave Rodney VanEperen a run
for the win in the final lap, but he wasn't
able to make the pass
|
“We just need to find out how to put on a charge
early instead of waiting for the last two laps,”
said Chaney. “When we went over that turn, they
had a local caution going so that messed me up
going into the corner. I tried everything I could,
but trying isn’t winning. I still have the points
lead and we’re getting better every race.”

Zakowski quickly found the fast way around the
course. He moved up to fourth on the lap-five
restart and came away with his first podium of
the season.

Zakowski charged his way through the pack
to secure his first TORC Pro Mod UTV Podium
finish of the season in third place
|
“I felt great today and I could do anything with
the car,” said Zakowski. “A little more speed
and we would have been right there with Rodney
and Kyle. I’m dedicating this race to my mom,
Linda. She’s been through so much, going through
breast cancer. The track was by far my favorite.”
Farr started ninth, but got put back to 11th
on the first lap. Despite visibility issues, he
made it up to sixth on the restart and continued
his climb to finish fourth.
|
JB Racing's
Tim Farr battled his way up to a fourth
place finish after dropping back to 11th
earlier in the race
|
“We just got balled up at the start,” said Farr.
“A couple of guys got sideways in front of me
and then I saw people just got past me. The car
was good, but you can’t go that far backwards
and have a chance.”
Luburgh proved in qualifying that his Bikeman
Polaris has the speed to compete. After winning
the pole, he held strong in top three before overheating
issues slowed him..
|
Bikeman Performance's
Jason Luburgh held off Kyle Chaney until
after the restart, but over heating issues
slowed his charge, which dropped him back
to 5th place at the checkered flag
|
“I knew I could do it,” explained Luburgh. “We
just had to prove it to ourselves. Rodney pulled
a move and got around me in the cushion on the
first lap. I got back past him, then he passed
me again and he was killing me with mud. The intercooler
got plugged up with mud and the car started getting
hot. It was irritating because I knew I had the
speed, but this was my best finish in the class
so it worked out fine.”
