- Rounds 9 – Cahuilla Creek Race Report
::Continued::
“It was an odd moto with Beau (Baron) blowing up and Nelson crashing. I saw all the commotion going on but just kept up my pace,” regards Haagsma of the second moto.

#549 Beau Baron placed second in Pro 450 Production Moto 1 but experienced some mechanical issues that put him out of the race in Moto 2 |
Lusardi Motorsport’s Jason Fife claimed the second podium spot with respectable 4-2 finishes. In the first moto, Fife got off the gate in good position; he got a little quick over the whoop section after turn two and skirted off the track. He quickly recovered and made two smart passes to catch up to Dustin Nelson.
Fife solidified his career best finish by taking second place in the second moto. Again Fife got off the gate in good position and tagged onto the leaders. He was able to capitalize on Nelson’s mistake and take over the second spot.

Precision Racing's Jason Fife placed fourth in the first moto & second in the second moto earning him second overall on his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV |
“It was a really good weekend. I got out unharmed, everything was consistent. I can’t thank Lusardo, PEP, Pro Armor and Precision enough; my quad worked awesome,” said Fife.
Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson kept a slim hold on his points lead with 3-3 finishes. Nelson was third off the start in moto one and was trying to keep pace with Haagsma and Beau Baron. Luck didn’t favor the California racer as his carrier went out mid-way through the race. Nelson was able to limp his ATV to the checkers and salvage a third place finish.

Motorsports' David Haagsma again grabbed Moto 2 shot with teammate #549 Beau Baron in case followed closely by Yamaha's #94 Dustin Nelson |
Moto two wasn’t much friendlier to Nelson. Again he was third off the start and was able to quickly move into second after Baron experienced issues with his ATV. Not long after taking over the second spot Nelson blew a berm and clipped a tree causing him to have a big crash. It took Nelson a bit to recover from the get off, but once he was back on his Yamaha, he moved into third spot.
