Kyle Martin did it again in Minnesota. The Missouri racer is on a roll towards the OMA Nationals series championship with a string of victories pushing his points total.

On the first weekend in August, the Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals series rolled their show in to the Spring Creek national motocross facility at Millville, Minnesota. The series is still off road racing, but each year they visit the awesome facility that John and Greta Martin have built. Parts of the motocross track are used in the course layout, including the huge uphill triple and the famous Millville Whoops. Miles of woods trails are connected to the circuit, and Bill Gusse did his best to make another challenging event at one of the premier motorsports facilities in the country. Shane Gaunt stepped up to the challenge, and his Aupperle Racing Lonestar Honda appeared to have what it takes to win this event. The Morton Illinois teenager lead the event until electrical issues stopped his machine dead. A restart was finally successful, but the machine only completed another partial lap before stopping for the day. Kyle Martin was close behind Gaunt, and the Dirtworks Motorsports Honda claimed the lead and never relented. Martin finished his ninth lap of the course with a gap of three minutes and forty seconds over the Quad City Quad Doctor Honda of Matt Lindle. Third place went to John Pitts aboard a Duncan Racing Rekluse Honda while the A class Honda of Andrew Snyder was the final machine to complete nine laps to capture fourth place overall. The big Polaris Utility ATV of Daryl Rath rounded out the top five with an impressive ride, completing eight laps of the grueling mix of rocks, roots, and some moto sections that really tested every aspect of the machines and their riders.

The big Polaris Utility class machine of Daryl Rath completed eight laps at the Spring Creek XC to capture fifth place overall.

Fourth place overall at the Motion Pro Spring Creek XC was captured by A ATV racer Andrew Stevens. He was the last racer to complete nine laps of the grueling course.

The early laps were lead by a young man that has had some trouble getting to the end of races lately. Shane Gaunt has endured mechanical and physical issue at the last two events, and his Fasst Flexx Hinson Honda did not see the finish of this race either. After a great holeshot and some very impressive laps the Gaunt Motorsports Scott Goggles Honda was nowhere to be seen. Electrical gremlins had struck the machine dead, ending Gaunt’s chance of taking home a victory and leaving him stuck in the woods.

Kyle Martin blasted his Dirtworks Motorsports Honda to another victory at the OMA Nationals Spring Creek XC.

Kyle Martin was doing some fast laps of his own, and took the opportunity to grab the lead and run away with it to the end. The Missouri racer picked up the pace despite some overheating concerns with his Maxxis Roll Design Honda. Martin chose to continue racing, ignoring the warning lights and odd smells coming from his Pivot Works Wiseco Performance Products Honda. “I was able to melt the brackets off my fan on my radiator,” noted Martin. “I burnt most of my oil and I’m sure I spewed out all of my anti-freeze.” Martin said the conditions were “real rough on the bike today as far as the heat, and I think some of the other guys had that come in to play for them as well. This sandy soil really plugs up the radiator.”
