Rio Grande , Ohio
- The Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals series held
round three of their ten race national series on
Memorial Day weekend in the rolling hills of rural
Ohio. Many local riders came out to compete in the
event that was co-sanctioned by the Moose Racing
Extreme Dirt Series at the Fallon family farm near
Rio Grande. After the dust settled, and there was
plenty of dust, it was Adam McGill, from nearby
West Union, West Virginia taking the checkers aboard
the Quad Tech Motorex KTM. McGill developed a gap
on the rest of the pack after running his eleven
trips of the circuit with consistent lap times nearly
thirty seconds faster than the rest of the field.
Second place went to the GT Thunder Powermadd Yamaha
of Brian Wolf with a time of one hour, fifty four
minutes, and nineteen seconds. McGill finished four
minutes and two seconds earlier than Wolf. Walker
Fowler took third aboard his Maxxis Fasst Yamaha,
beating the Dirtworks Hot Cams Honda of Missouri
pro Kyle Martin. Fifth and sixth place were also
occupied with Missouri based racers with Bryan Hulsey
taking fourth place riding his Duncan Racing Dirtworks
Honda. John Pitts completed the top five with his
Duncan Racing Rekluse Honda. Shawn Hess was the
final pro to complete eleven laps of the route aboard
his Texas based Houser Racing Maxxis Honda.

Walker Fowler took
the holeshot, but ended up with third
place after a race
that combined dusty field sections with
near perfect dirt in the woods of
rural Ohio.

“The track today was awesome,” commented
race winner Adam McGill. “I really can’t
complain a whole lot. The race went really well.
I liked the track a lot. Definitely a lot of fast
sections, little off-cambers. A little slick, but,
I mean, for the most part it was pretty kick a,
for sure. I definitely enjoyed it.” McGill
had a solid run, passing holeshot winner Walker
Fowler’s Maxxis Fasst Yamaha to start the
second full lap with a three second lead. A string
of laps in the ten minute and thirty second range
put McGill in a convincing lead, with most of the
other pros barely breaking eleven minutes on a consistent
basis. “It was real fast,” said the
Ohlins Twinn Air KTM racer “I haven’t
been to one of these for a couple years. I’m
definitely glad to get out. It was actually really
cool. I liked it a lot.”

It was a good day
for Brian Wolf at the Parts Unlimited
OMA Nationals on
Memorial Day weekend. Wolf put his GT
Thunder Yamaha on the podium in second
place after battling for nearly two hours
through the woods and fields of
the DP Brakes Coal Miner XC.

The field sections
were fairly dusty at round three of the
Parts Unlimited
OMA Nationals series. John Pitts battled
to a sixth place finish behind
fellow Duncan Racing Honda rider Bryan
Hulsey.

Second place went to the Hyper Flexx Bars Yamaha
of Brian Wolf with a final time of one hour, fifty
four minutes, and nineteen seconds, beating the
Maxxis Yamaha of Walker Fowler by seventeen seconds.
Wolf and Fowler battled throughout the day, with
Fowler having a slower time on lap three to give
Wolf a gap of nearly a minute on lap four. Fowler
did manage to make a pass late in the race, and
was ahead of Wolf by one second entering the white
flag lap, but the battle ended with Brian Wolf
through the Moose Racing scoring tent ahead of
Fowler. According to Fowler “the track was
a lot of fun. It was kind of short, but a lot
of fun. Creeks, ravines, hills, fields, it had
it all.” While Fowler said it was “a
little bit dusty,” but, “I definitely
liked it. I got the holeshot and lead the first
lap. I’ve never done that before. It was
pretty cool.”
