DWT / Motoworks Travis Moore had a rough start
in the first Pro-Am moto when he and Tommy Lombardo
got close in the holeshot and found both of
themselves at the back of the pack. Moore quickly
began to make up distance and push through into
fifth by the end of the first lap. By the third
lap, SSI Graphics Travis Moore had made his
way into third and began to apply the pressure
on Mike Skalaski who was in second, but ran
out of time and would finish third in the first
moto. Moore started the second Pro-Am moto off
the line in fifth, but didn’t stay there
long. Tiger Racing Moore quickly moved his way
into third, and set his sights on Tommy Lombardo.
Moore and Lombardo battled close for the last
couple of laps and Travis was able to make his
move and take over second with one lap left.
Moore pulled away from Lombardo, and finished
second for the moto, taking a second overall
in the Pro-Am class.

Matamoras, Pennsylvania’s Tommy Lombardo
had some awesome motos in the Pro-Am class this
weekend at Hurricane Hills. Off the line in
the first moto, Lombardo started off near the
back of the pack of riders when he and Moore
got together off the line into the first turn.
Maxxis Tires Lombardo made his way up to sixth
by the end of the second lap, but wasn’t
done there. By the end of the fourth lap, Lombardo
was able to make his move on Preston Young and
was quickly adding pressure to Justin Chamberland
who was in fourth. In the last lap, Lombardo
found his way around Chamberland and finished
the first moto in fourth. In the second moto,
Nac’s Racing Tommy Lombardo flew off the
line and into third. Lombardo made a pass on
Skalaski in the first lap to take over second,
but would fall back into third later in the
moto when Travis Moore added the pressure and
battled with Lombardo for the last two laps
and would make his move. Lombardo finished third
overall this weekend in the Pro-Am class, and
also experienced the Pro-Am podium for the first
time as well.

In the Women’s class, BCS Performance/Can-Am
DS 450 rider Nicole Gates had a great weekend
despite her knee injury. Gates shot off the
line in the first moto, taking the holeshot
and began to pull away from the rest of the
group. But by the last lap, Gates knee injury
began to give her issues and set her back, putting
her in a battle for first with AMA ATV MX National’s
rider, Shay Honeywell. Gates would keep her
lead and take the win for the first moto. In
the second moto, Gates took the holeshot again
and kept the lead for the entire moto. “I
was very happy with the results despite the
problems I faced this weekend with my knee.
I knew I had to get out front and ride my hardest,”
remarked Gates. Shay Honeywell took time out
of her busy schedule to come to Hurricane Hills
this weekend and race in the Women’s class
and the 4 Stroke C class. Honeywell ran two
good motos in the Women’s class, taking
second in both motos and having some strong
battles with Gates. Honeywell would take second
in the Women’s class for the weekend.
Rounding out the top three is Team Southside
Polaris Kellie Moran who went 3-3 in her motos.
The Open B class was stocked with 17 riders
this weekend, and coming out in front in the
first moto was Pittsford, New York’s Sam
Imburgia. He would fall back into third by the
end of the fourth lap moto, but would take the
first overall in the B class for the day. Cuddebackville,
New York’s Jared Gessner would go 2-2
in his motos, and take a second overall. Filling
out the podium is Team Southside Polaris Cody
Paoella, who went 1-4.
The fifth round of the NEATV-MX series will
