Kawasaki's Joe Haavisto wraps up
the 2008 NEATV-MX Pro & Pro-Am Championships
on a KFX450R |
Lempster, NH - Kawasaki’s
Joe Haavisto put on a strong performance at the
final round of the NEATV-MX series this past weekend
and clenched both the Pro and Pro-am NEATV-MX
championships while Paige Whipple claimed the
championship in the Women’s class.
The 2008 NEATV-MX series has been marked with
many close points battles that came down to
the final round in some classes, while in others,
class leaders began to pull away early in the
season; Kawasaki’s Joe Haavisto was one
of those racers that stood out from the crowd
all season long. Despite an injury to his knee
that he sustained at the AMA ATV MX Invitational
at Steel City earlier this season, Joe managed
to come away with a 3-1 finish in the final
round of the Pro class, which earned him 1st
overall for the day and confirmed his Pro championship.
“I was very happy to win this for Kawasaki.
They have put a lot into the series and put
a lot into me this year,” said Haavisto.

England ATV Motocross racers were in the
Halloween spirit for the final round of
the season as they younger racers dressed
up in costumes and went around the pits
trick or treating |
In the first Pro moto, however, Haavisto came
off the line in 5th place, which was not the
start he was hoping for, but Haavisto was not
about to stay where he was and began to move
up. Meanwhile, Michael Pilotte, who had grabbed
the holeshot was in the lead with Miles Santaniello
right behind him. Despite pressure from Santaniello,
Pilotte was able to hold off the number 44 Honda
and take the win, with Santaniello finishing
in second. Meanwhile, Haavisto had moved past
Justin Hoffler and Matt Pomeroy to finish in
third.
