NE EDT Racing Round 5 ATV Race Report
::Continued::

The RATH Racing Pro-Lite class saw a new name on the top of the podium for this round after current points lead Damian King suffered a shoulder injury during practice.

Deon Hayden NE-EDT Racing

Deon Hayden grabbed the early lead in the Pro-Lite Class

Element44 / Turtle Racing Engines / Canup Trucking’s CJ Robson got off to a solid start in the Pro-Lite class and was sitting in the right position in order to take over the lead within the few laps of the contest. Robson came out off the line in third place behind Tyler Deister and Deon Hayden, who took the holeshot. Robson was able to make his way around Hayden within the first couple of laps and take over the lead. However with about half of the race completed, a red flag came out, halting the race and creating a restart. Robson actually lost the first place position to Deon Hayden upon the restart, but quickly proved his pace once again and took over the lead within a lap’s time. From this point, Robson controlled his pace very well, made no mistakes, and took the win, his first win in the Pro-Lite class thus far this season.

CPR / FSR / Houser Racing’s Jonathan Stierle did some impressive work during the Pro-Lite main event. Stierle started his race out in a dismal position near the rear quarter of the pack but quickly turned his luck around as he began making passes left and right. By the halfway point of the race, he was moved up into the top ten, and then just as quickly, into the top five. He then was able to capitalize on a crash between Matt Hermiller and Bryan Robertson which caused a red-flag restart. Upon starting again, Stierle was in fourth place and hot on the heels of Matt Schaeffer. The skies began to open up a bit and let some rain onto the track which calmed the dust down and improved the track conditions slightly, Stierle kept his eye on the prize and got around Schaeffer and then also put a pass on Cole Stearns to take over second place. From this point, Stierle kept up his speed and took the second place position all the way to the checkered flag.

Tru-Way Racing / ANSR Racing / SSi Decals’s Cole Stearns also had a great ride in the Pro-Lite class, earning his first-ever podium in the class in third place. Stearns got off to a decent start in fourth place and quickly set a comfortable pace for himself behind Tyler Deister. Stearns maintained this position for the majority of the first few laps but then dropped of to eighth place. He then was able to make up some ground after a collision resulted in a red flag from two other racers. Stearns quickly found himself in sixth place and then fifth place just as fast and was not going to stop there! He poured on the coal some more and got around Schaeffer in the very next lap and then was able to also get around Hayden to the point of his final destination on the podium in third place.

Hall however, didn’t get there without a fight, as Jeckel was bound and determined to show him a wheel or two throughout the event. Hall, put his speed to work tough and took the win, adding another win to the slew of wins he has this season.

Tyler King NE-EDT Racing

Tyler King won the Super Mini Class at Pine Lake

In the Super Mini class, JB Racing / King Racing / Carolina Design’s Tyler King got off to a good start in second place and then moved his way into first place around Kiefer Moore who took the holeshot. King put his 150cc four-stroke engine to work and fell right into place with the Pine Lake track and made the win his own with a sizable lead by the end of the race. The Pro, Pro-Lite, Super Mini, and Three Wheel Pro-Am classes all receive a special 47th anniversary trophy from Pine Lake, commemorating the 4th Anniversary of the famous track.

The Next Round of the NE-EDT National series will be held at Busco Beach ATV complex on August 6th, in Goldsboro, NC. The red clay dirt track is one of the fastest and most exciting races to watch all year and you sure won’t want to miss the second to last race of the season where the points battles can be decided at the drop of a hat!
