NE EDT Racing ATV Race
Report
::Continued::
AE3 Motorsports/Roberts Racing/TSI’s Andrew
Evanyke was having some struggles throughout the
day with setup and used his heats as proving grounds
for his testing. Evanyke was also a heat race
winner earlier in the day and brought that momentum
to the main event as he came off the line in great
position. Evanyke had a hard time on the track
with few passing opportunities offered by the
track and was forced to settle in his third place
position when the checkered flag flew, giving
him too, a solid position for the first round
of the season

Andrew Evanyke
finished third in the Pro-Am Class
|
In the Rath Racing Pro-Lite class, there were
a lot of new names and a lot of battling action
going on and was a great race to watch as there
were eighteen racers in this class as well!

Pro-Lite Podium (left to right)
Caden Pope (2nd), Jesse McCollum (1st),
Brad Riley (3rd)
|
Jesse McCollum from Earnhardt Racing was the
man to beat as he launched off the line with his
TRE engine and pulled a full bike length on the
pack immediately to take the holeshot. McCollum
stayed on the gas for the remainder of the race
and came away with the win, never looking back
all while battling with teammate Caden Pope who
came off the line in second place.
|
Jesse McCollum
took the holeshot for the early lead &
would hold the lead until the finish to
take the win inthe Pro Lite Class
|
Earnhardt Racing’s Caden Pope got off to
a great start as well right behind McCollum, his
teammate, and shadowed him for the entire race.
Pope attempted several pass attempts but couldn’t
make anything stick. Pope settled for second place
and established himself as a contender for the
2015 season.
Steve Lagro made the trek all the way South from
the provence of Ontario, Canada for the race.
Lagro has been competing in the NE-EDT and TT
races for many seasons and had a good time at
the season opener. Lagro came off the line in
a great position as well and followed Pope and
McCollum for the entire race and ended up in third
place, a great start to his season, too.
The Open C class was by far the largest amateur
class for the opening rounds in Kinston with nineteen
riders. #57 Jimmy Macken of Macken Sewer and Drain
came down from New York for the round and he and
his family have been long-time supporters of the
series. Mackey made a clean sweep of the class
by getting out front and running consistent laps
to bring home first place. Cole Maurer of Jackson,
Michigan came down with his family who also race
in the series and was able to bring home second
place while Cody Wompler from Manchester, Pennsylvania
made the journey as well and took home a solid
third place finish.
The Quadified Engines / Blood Enterprises round
two of the series was to be held the following
day on Saturday but with heavy rains and winds
blowing into the area, only the first set of races,
the heats, were able to completed. Each class
was scored from the heat finishes for the round
which made for some very interesting happenings.
By having the fastest heat race of the day, Kris
“Tiffer” Bures was the winner of the
Pro class for round two followed by Chuckie Creech
who also was a heat race winner but with just
a slower time by only a second off the mark. Third
place in the Pro class was Brian Ace who took
second place in the heat for himself with a quick
time giving him a podium spot. After these two
rounds, Medlin, Creech, Ace, and Tiffer are in
a four-way tie for first place with forty six
points. The odds of that are incredible and there’s
one thing for certain, this season will be one
of the tightest battles we’ve seen and is
surely not one to miss! Check out the NE-EDT when
it comes to Freedom Motorsports Raceway in Freedom,
NY on June 27th for round three!
