RACE REPORT
>>CONTINUED |
The Pro Heats would get underway in the afternoon
on Saturday and would see Michael Coburn, Harold
Goodman, and Kirby Cooke all take the win in their
perspective heat races. During Coburn’s
heat, he would be chased down by Brian Ace in
second place, Chuckie Creech in third, Damon Brown
in fourth, and Daniel Chepkauskas in fifth place.
While Coburn would win his heat, Harold Goodman
would grab the holeshot in his as well and set
a blistering pace out front. He would be chased
down by local H&H Performance’s Josh
Hibdon in second place, Mike Mahan in third place,
Frankie Batista in fourth, and Danny McGraw in
fifth.

Yoshimura's
Harold Goodman would win his heat races
during the earlier part of the day which
would help him get the track & quad
dialed for the evenings main events |
Kirby
Cooke would also be hard on the gas aboard
his Maxxis Tire's Honda taking the win in
his heat race as well after he battled with
Brad Riley for the entire race |
Kirby Cooke would then take course and put his
Maxxis/Victory Motorsports quad in the lead off
the start. Cooke was not able to run away with
the lead however as Brad Riley has his front bumper
taking pain samples from Cooke’s rear grab
bar for the entire heat! Riley would finish in
second place followed by Kris Bures in third place,
Doug Crossway in fourth, and Zack Thweatt in fifth.
The Pro main would get underway with a parade
lap around the tightly knit course, and then the
racers would warm their tires before heading the
starting line. They would be lines up in sets
of 5 racers per line with 5 lines in total as
well. The motors screamed and off they went as
Coburn’s Sparks motor rocketed him to the
holeshot first followed closely by Troy Lee’s
Kirby Cooke and H&K Performance’s Josh
Hibdon. Yoshimura’s Harold Goodman would
soon take over second place from Cooke within
the first few corners to pursue Coburn who was
running away with the early lead.

South Dakota's
Michael Coburn would take the holeshot
& begin to pull an early lead before
coming under fire from #708 Harold Goodman
who would nip at Coburn's heals for the
entire race
|
Michael Coburn would gain the early lead heading
into the first tight right hander, through the
sweeping left, up over the big tabletop and down
into an extremely tight left hand 180 which had
a lot of racers second guessing themselves as
they careened through the cumbersome turn. “This
track is super tight and with it being so one-lined,
I was really pumped to be able to pull the early
lead and hang on for the win!,” said Coburn
after the race. The tight track would frustrate
a few of the racers during the rounds because
of the lack of opportunity for passing and as
Coburn and Goodman would run into some traffic
they would quickly get around them and onto their
business.

Coburn
gets it up on two wheels as he blasted around
the race course being pursued by "The
Bee" Harold Goodman |
Pushing
hard is the name of Coburn's game &
his tires would pay the price as the tight,
abrassive course would take its toll on
them |
Coburn’s biggest enemy on the track was
that of his right rear tire. As the record-setter
made his rounds, he could feel the backend of
his quad becoming increasingly soft but luckily
for him the tire held up for the remaining laps.
Coburn was able to take the win and walk away
with an extra $1500 dollars from the $3500 total
pro purse payout.
