Adelanto, CA – Racetown 395
played host to round 10 of the ITP Quadcross which
saw plenty of action in the Pro class as Dustin
Nelson appears to be back in top form, claiming
the number one spot on the podium, his first victory
since his return from injury just one month ago.
The Open Pro class was not without it’s share
of excitement as the points battle for the championship
between TJ Dietrich, Darrel Patton and Danny Ragan
intensifies.

Suzuki's Dustin Wimmer grabs the Holeshot
in Moto One |
The first moto of the Pro class saw Suzuki’s
Dustin Wimmer take first in the holeshot followed
by Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson, Jeff Spooner, Yoshimura’s
Kory Ellis, Jeremy Schell and Kawasaki’s Josh
Creamer. While Wimmer was holding a consistent lead,
Josh Creamer began trying to work his way up through
the pack. “The track was kind of tight with
a lot of single lines so you really had to look
for opportunities to pass.” Stated Creamer
who has been in CA doing some testing for Kawasaki’s
upcoming 2008 season. “We were mainly testing
different shock set-ups this time.” Said Josh.
“I ran a different set-up for each moto.”
He concluded. Even though there was experimentation
on his suspension, it didn’t seem to hurt
Creamer’s performance on the track one bit
as he worked his way through the pack.

ITP Quadcross Points Leader
#53 Kory Ellis |
Meanwhile, Ellis was busy chasing down the #56 bike
of Jeff Spooner. “I was able to catch and
pass Spooner in the third lap which put me in third.
Then I took over second behind Nelson when Wimmer
ran into bike problems.” Said Ellis, who is
recovering from a broken foot sustained in a crash
only a few weeks prior to round 10. “I haven’t
been able to ride at all since that happened, so
I was a little out of shape for this race, but my
foot is feeling better and I’m not having
any pain.” Stated Kory, who is the current
Pro class points leader.
Wimmer, who had been holding a nice lead out
of the gate, suddenly found himself dealing with
mechanical issues half way through the moto. “I’m
not really sure what happened, the quad just cut
out and wouldn’t start.” Said a disappointed
Wimmer. The factory Suzuki rider, who is also
in CA testing out some new products for the ’08
season, was able to get the issue fixed and was
back on the starting line for the second moto.

Dustin Wimmer & Dustin Nelson |
Wimmer’s bike problems allowed Yamaha’s
Dustin Nelson to assume first place. “Everything
went really well for me. It was a fun track, the
weather was good, and my bike was running great.”
Said Nelson. The 2006 ITP champion hasn’t
wasted anytime getting back up to speed after his
injury earlier this year, and has come on strong
for the last few races of the series. Nelson kept
his lead for the rest of the moto crossing the finish
line first. Josh Creamer managed to work his way
up to finish in second, with Kory Ellis in third,
Jeremy Schell in fourth and John Ragon rounded out
the top five.
