Yoshimura's
Kory Ellis claims 4th Win of the Season on his
RockStar Engery Yoshimura Suzuki LTR450 |
San Bernardino, CA (7/23/2007)
- Round six of the Yamaha ITP Quadcross Series
was back again at Glen Helen Raceway for the second straight
of three rounds, and nearly 200 racers gathered to compete
on the world famous race track. Among the entries was
nearly a full gate of pro ATV racers, but once again Yamaha’s
defending champion, Dustin Nelson, was missing from the
lineup as he recovers from broken femur, which will have
him sidelined for probably for the next round as well.
With Nelson out of the lineup, Rock Star Yoshimura’s
Kory Ellis has been on a mission claiming victories
in the past two rounds, and with another race at his
hometown track, Ellis came out on top once again with
his fourth win of the season after dramatic charge through
the pack on his Suzuki LTR450 in the second Moto to
secure the overall win.
In the first Moto, Epic Racing’s Jeremy Schell
grabbed the Holeshot over Ellis, but within a few laps,
Ellis took over the lead. Meanwhile, Dean Pierce ran
into issues while climbing Mount St. Helens, which caught
up Josh Frederick and Frederick, flipped over backwards
and down the hill. Fortunately, Frederick wasn’t
injured, and he remounted his Epic Racing machine and
began his charge through the pack after the leaders.

Out front, Ellis put it in cruise control as he pulled
a comfortable lead over Jeremy Schell and Dustin Terry
battling for the second spot. Yamaha’s Terry made
the pass on Schell to take over the second spot and
was making time on the cruising Kory Ellis. For Terry,
it was one of his best Pro performances, and he appeared
to be on his way to a second place finish until the
last lap when a battery issues halted his charge and
left him sidelined with a 15th place finish.
Kory Ellis would go on to the Moto win followed by
Jeremy Schell, Johnny Shafe, and Landon Hurst. Amazingly,
Josh Frederick charged his way up to a 5th place finish
to salvage the Moto.

Epic
Racing's Jeremy Schell grabs the Moto Two Holeshot |
The second Moto had Jeremy Schell once again pulling
the Holeshot followed by Johnny Shafe and Jeremy Schell
with Kory Ellis running mid pack. Amazing, only a few
laps into the race, Ellis was able to charge his way
through the lead group and take over the lead from Schell.
