Dustin Nelson continues his winning streak
by sweeping both Pro & Open Pro Motos
at SpeedWorld |
Surprise,
AZ –
With temperatures still in the triple digits as
the sun began to set, racers hit the track at round
seven of the 2010 ITP Quadcross series and the second
night race of the season saw Yamaha’s Dustin
Nelson take both the Pro Production and Open Pro
wins with a four moto sweep, while MCR/Maxxis Tire’s
Beau Baron would finish second and Golden West Cycle’s
Jason Dunkelberger claimed the number three spot
on the podium.
Track conditions were good at Speedworld MX Park
in Surprise, AZ as Yamaha / Goldenwest Cycle’s
Dustin Nelson grabbed the Pro Production moto
one holeshot and checked out on the competition.
Nelson led from start to finish and reached the
checkered flag with ten second lead over second
place. In moto two, Nelson was second off the
start behind Yamaha mounted Justin Noss, but Nelson
stayed close and was able to get around Noss before
the end of the first lap and pull away to take
the moto two win and the overall Pro Production
win, furthering his points lead.
“I had a really good night. In moto one,
I got the holeshot and was able to put a nice
gap between myself and everyone else and in the
second moto, I got around Noss pretty early and
while everyone else was battling it out back there
I just rode my own race,” said Nelson.

Maxxis' Beau Baron remains in the Pro points
chase with a 2nd place finish, but he will
need to finish in front of Nelson in the
final two rounds for any chance of dethroning
the reigning champ with a 16 point lead
over Baron |
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron was having
a little trouble in the first Pro Production moto.
“My quad was sputtering and bogging during
the parade lap, so it kind of slowed me down a
bit for the first lap,” said Baron, who
was in third off the start. Baron was in a heated
battle with Jason Dunkelberger for most of the
moto and hung on to take a third place finish.
In moto two, Baron was on his game and came off
the line in a strong third behind Dustin Nelson
and Justin Noss. Baron soon caught up to Noss,
who had fallen to second and the battle was on.
The pair fought hard for several laps before baron
was able to make the pass stick and hold down
the number two spot. Baron held his position until
reaching the checkered flag and his 3-2 finishes
allowed him to claim second overall.

Golden West Cycle's Jason Dunkelberger claims
a third place finish by just one point over
Justin Noss |
Jason Dunkelberger was looking strong as he charged
off the start in moto two right behind Dustin
Nelson. Despite pressure from Beau Baron for most
of the first moto, Dunk was able to hold his position
taking second as he reached the finish line. In
moto two, the number 19 Yamaha put in a solid
performance as he battled with Justin Noss and
Jason Fife. Dunk held on to claim a fourth place
finish in moto two, giving him the final spot
on the Pro Production podium.
Justin Noss, claimed a fourth place finish in
moto one and put on a strong charge in moto two
after grabbing the holeshot, but he would end
his evening with 4-3 finishes, giving him a respectable
fourth overall.
Jason Fife put in two solid motos taking 6-5
finishes that allowed him to round out the top
five in the Pro Production class. Jesse Goss held
on to take sixth overall with his 5-7 finishes,
while John Shafe would claim a close seventh.
James Rossi hung on to claim eight overall and
Reed Petchnick would claim ninth.
