Dustin Nelson Sweeps
Both Pro Classes at SpeedWorld
Quadcross
::Continued::
|
For the second straight race, Nelson has
raced both Pro & Open Pro, and he will
continue to race both for the rest of the
season |
In the Open Pro class, Dustin Nelson came on strong
once again as he charged his way into third place
off the start behind Kody Evans, who grabbed the
holeshot and Beau Baron, who was in second. “I
was a little worried about being behind Beau because
I was on my practice bike and it doesn’t have
as much power as my race bike and Beau is a tough
competitor and is very fast,” said Nelson.
Despite Nelson’s worries, he and Baron
both made quick work of Evans and began to battle
for the lead. Nelson’s choice of lines helped
him get around Baron and take the lead. Baron
stayed close behind Nelson, but was Nelson was
able to hold on for the Open Pro moto one win.
In the second moto, Nelson was in second off the
start behind Kody Evans, who took his second holeshot
of the night, but Nelson applied the pressure
and the young racer made a slight mistake, allowing
Nelson to get by. Once out front, Nelson held
his lead all the way to the checkered flag, taking
the moto, and overall, win.

Roll Design's Beau Baron claims the 2nd
spot in the Open Pro Class over Jason Dunkelberger |
Beau Baron came on strong in the Open Pro class
as he charged off the line in second place behind
Kody Evans in the first moto. Baron pressured
Evans and was soon able to make a pass, but he
was not alone as Dustin Nelson came charging from
behind. Baron and Nelson battled for several laps
before Baron fell back to second. Despite his
hard charge, Baron was not able to reclaim the
lead and had to settle for a second place finish.
In moto two, Baron was in third off the start
behind Evans and Nelson. Baron soon found himself
in second after Evans made a mistake and fell
back, but Baron was not able to close the gap
on Nelson in time to make a move, again giving
him a second place finish, putting him in second
overall. “Dustin and I were pretty close
for the Open Pro class. I tried to stay with him
as close as I could, but he is tough to beat.
I’m still happy with how the race went and
it was some good practice for me before WORCS
next weekend,” stated Baron.
Jason Dunkelberger got off to a fourth place
start in moto one of the Open Pro class and made
a strong charge as he made his way around Kody
Evans to take over third place, which he held
all the way to the checkered flag. In moto two,
Dunk got off to a slower start, but was able to
work his way into fourth before crossing the finish
line, giving him third overall and allowed his
to expand his points lead in the Open Pro class.

Keith Tebeau Takes 4th Overall in the Open
Pro Class & he is currently 3rd in the
Open Pro Points race |
Keith Tebeau, who is currently holding down third
in the Open Pro points chase, put in a solid and
consistent effort as he claimed 4-5 finishes that
would put him in fourth place overall. Daniel Ramirez
also looked strong as he went 5-6, allowing him
to round out the top five of the Open Pro class.
Kody Evans grabbed both Open Pro holeshots but
would fall back after a bobble in moto one that
sent him back to a tenth place finish. Despite
a rebound in moto two that gave him a third place
finish; Evans would end his night in sixth overall.
Rafael Guzman’s 6-7 finishes put him in
the number seven spot overall, while Joshua Evans
would go 9-8 to finish in eighth. Zachary Joncas
claimed ninth overall and Nathan Fedel held on
for a top ten finish.
Round eight of the 2010 ITP Quadcross series will
head to Adelanto, CA on October 24th, where MX395
will play host as the points races tighten up
and Dustin Nelson and Jason Dunkelberger try to
increase their points leads in the Pro Production
and Open Pro classes in pursuit of the 2010 championships.
