Jason Dunkelberger took his first ever Pro
Production overall win at round 5 at Glen
Helen Raceway in California aboard his Golden
West Cycles Yamaha YFZ450R ATV |
San
Bernardino,
CA – Golden West Cycle’s Jason
Dunkelberger grabbed both the Pro Production and
Open Pro wins at round five of the 2010 Yamaha ITP
Quadcross series, which also saw the return of KTM’s
Doug Eichner in the Open Pro class.
Glen Helen Raceway was the hosting facility and
racers were pleased to find that some recent changes
had been made to the track to make it a little
more technical and interesting.
In addition to the track changes, there was also
a special raffle and benefit being held in memory
of fallen WORCS racer Casey Johnson. Many racers
were also running memorial stickers to show their
support.
Although there was a somewhat somber overtone
to the weekend’s race, the show went on
as usual and despite a low number of Pro’s
on the Pro Production starting line, there was
plenty of action.

#97 Yamaha's Justin Noss took a third place
finish in the Pro Production class after
battling it out with Dunk & holding
him off for the entire moto |
In moto one, Jason Dunkelberger was battling it out with Justin Noss. The pair
of Yamaha’s flew around the track with Noss
holding off Dunk for the entire moto, leaving the
number 19 to finish in fourth place. Moto two was
a totally different story for Dunkelberger, who
was third off the line. Dunk was following leaders
Dustin Nelson and Beau Baron when Nelson encountered
issues out on the track and was forced to pull off,
leaving Dunk and Baron to battle it out for the
lead. It looked as if Baron would pull away
and take the win, but a flat tire would hamper
his efforts and allow Dunkelberger to take over
the lead. Once out front, Dunk set a blistering
pace and held off Justin Noss all the way to the
checkered flag to take his first ever Pro Production
ITP Quadcross overall win.

Beau
Baron was on a mission up front to take
the win on his Honda ATV but a flat tire
set him back & allowed Dunk to take
the moto two win |
After
Baron's flat tire hampered his pace, Dunk
cruised to the front of the pack & began
putting down fast laps to take the win in
moto two for the overall win |
“Beau got a flat and that left me and Justin
to compete for the lead and I knew who ever took
the moto win was going to take the overall, so
there was no way I was going to let anyone but
me win,” said Dunk excitedly.

Justin Noss now sits in 3rd place in the
Pro points hunt after a 3-2 finish gave
him 2nd overall on the Pro Podium at Glen
Helen |
Yamaha’s Justin Noss put on a strong performance
as he would take second off the start in moto
one, but fall back to a third place finish. In
the second moto, Noss would come on strong again,
starting out in fourth and working his way into
the number two position. Noss’s 3-2 finishes
would give him the second spot on the Pro podium
and allow him to hang on to third in the Pro points
chase.
Jason Fife was looking consistent as he would
take 5-3 finishes to claim the final spot on the
podium.

#549 Beau Baron finished in 4th overall |
Beau Baron came on incredibly strong in moto
one and was holding a pace consistent with Dustin
Nelson, which would earn him a second place finish
in the first moto, but a flat tire in moto two,
would dash his hopes of scoring a spot on the
podium and leave him to finish in fourth overall.
“I was really hoping to get the overall.
Once I got out front in moto two, I was starting
to pull away from everyone, but then I got a flat
and that slowed me down a lot,” said Baron.
