Dustin Nelson's winning streak continued
at Speed World in Surprise, AZ as he won
yet again aboard his Yamaha YFZ450R ATV |
Surprise, AZ – Yamaha’s
Dustin Nelson topped the Pro podium at round four
of the 2010 ITP Quadcross series with a pair of
moto wins, while MCR/Maxxis’s Beau Baron and
Yamaha mounted Justin Noss would join him in second
and third.
This round was the first night race of the series
hosted by Speed World in Surprise, AZ. The temperatures
were hot and track conditions were good, which
seemed to work on Dustin Nelson’s favor
as he flew off the line in the first moto to take
the holeshot. Nelson was looking strong and fast
as he checked out on the competition, leading
from start to finish. Moto two was pretty much
a repeat for Nelson; as he went on to take the
moto win and the overall.
This was Nelson’s third consecutive overall
win for the 2010 season, and he currently holds
down a nice 11 point lead over second place Beau
Baron. “I felt really good out there and
my quad was running awesome. I’m glad I
was able to take the win again because I want
to keep the championship again this year,”
said Nelson.

#97 Justin Noss & #549 Beau Baron battled
back & forth in Moto 1 but Baron was
not able to seal the deal before the checkered
flag with Noss taking 2nd followed by Baron
in 3rd |
MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron was looking like he picked up some additional
speed for this round as he charged off the line.
Baron worked his way up from a fifth place start
and made the pass on both Jason Fife and Jason
Dunkelberger before the end of the first lap,
putting him up to third.
Baron then began to chase down Justin Noss, who
was holding down second, but Baron was unable
to get around Noss before reaching the checkered
flag and was forced to settle for a third place
finish. Moto two went a little better for Baron
as he was fourth off the line behind Dunkelberger.

#549 Maxxis' Beau Baron went 3-2 on the
day for a 2nd Overall, which now has Baron
sitting in 2nd Overall in the points race
after four rounds of racing |
Baron made the pass on Dunk just before the end
of the first lap and was soon gunning for Noss
once again, but this time with more success. Baron
and Noss were doing battle in the second lap and
ended up connecting, sending Noss over the berm
and allowing Baron to take over second place.
Baron was charging hard in order to catch leader
Dustin Nelson, but with a seven second lead, Baron
would have to settle for second place as he reached
the finish line, which would put him in second
overall, and in second in the points chase.
“I was trying really hard to chase down
Nelson, but he was about seven seconds ahead of
me and we were running about the same speed so
that made it kind of tough to close in on him.
For the next round I am really going to focus
on my starts because I think if I get better starts,
I can be right up there with Dustin,” said
Baron, who is pretty happy with how his Quadcross
season is going so far.
