The
GBC Heartland Challenge is held in Carlisle,
IA, which is a suburb of the state capital,
Des Moines, Iowa, and once again, the Heartland
Challenge was held on the final weekend
of Iowa State Fair, which is one of the
largest in the country and attracts over
1 million visitors each year, and it is
less than 20 minutes from the race track |
Carlisle, Iowa, the permanent home of the Heartland
Challenge saw heavy rains and flooding the week
prior to the event and left crews scrambling to
repair mud slides and damaged sections of the
track before the weekend’s event. Luckily,
with a little hard work and perseverance, repairs
were made, along with a couple of small changes,
and the track was ready to go.

The
GT Thunder Team (Brandon Sommers, Donald
Ockerman, Brian Wolf) kicked off the weekend
of racing with the Milwaukee Pit Stop Challenge
win on Friday afternoon with their race
prepped LT80, before leaving for a "Mullet
Pride" convention that night |
A little rain fell again on Friday before the
race, but hot temperatures and sunny skies began
to dry things out nicely for Friday except for
a few muddy parts back in the woods, that proved
to be treacherous for some racers.

utilized by the paramedics for assisting
anyone injured at the event. Also, GBC showed
off their new "Bomb Squad" ATV
tires, which have the Bomb Squad & H-Bomb
logo as the tread pattern & they are
going to be available for purchase in the
very near future |
