Without the expected rain, Sunday Creek Raceway
was very dry and dusty in the open field sections,
while the track that threaded its way through
the wooded hills was much less so and allowed
for a fast, exciting track for racers and fans
alike.

The rolling thunder that is the Pro 4x4 class
took off into the woods with holeshot master Jordan
Phillips in the lead, followed by fellow Can-Am
pro, Rob Smith and Polaris Scrambler pilot Swift
in third, but Swift would gradually work his way
to the front, and by the fourth lap, he took over
the lead, which he held for his second straight
win.

UXC Racing's
Michael Swift charged his way into the
lead in lap four

“This ain’t my kinda track, I don’t strive in
the motocross stuff and there wasn’t much room
to pass in the woods, but I just kept my head
down, and it worked out good for me. I went into
the woods third, took a bad line and dropped back
to dead last and had to fight my way forwards
again. After battling back and forth with Jordan,
I managed to get by Bryan and pulled on him,”
said Swift. For Swift this was his third victory
of the season, the sixth pro win for the Polaris
Factory Racing Team.

The winner complemented his Scrambler, “we push
these machines to the extreme limit, and it kept
going. The Maxxis tires and DP Brakes were solid
and the SSi graphics kept the bikes looking sharp.”
Current champ, Bryan Buckhannon would work his
way into the lead by lap two, chased hard by Phillips
and Swift, but he had to back off his blistering
pace to make sure he finished the race, which
he did in the second spot. “It was a crazy race
for sure, I worked my way up to second by lap
one and damaged some kind of drive shaft on the
uphill triple. I knew I was in really big trouble
and tried to baby my machine and be as smooth
and fast as I could. I used the dust to my advantage
and never let up. Thank goodness for these Can-Am
machines – they are strong and so reliable. We
are happy with second and we still have the points
lead, which is the main thing. We will be there
to fight at Snowshoe.”
