New Berlin, NY (9/9/2013) – Perfect weather and ideal track conditions greeted the AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country racers at the tenth round of racing in New Berlin, New York at the famous Unadilla Raceway. Action was fierce for two hours during the ATV battle and Chris Borich claimed his seventh win of the season. He was closely followed by Yamaha’s Walker Fowler who took second and JB Racing’s Jarrod McClure who crossed the checkers in third.

Chris Borich was in third on lap one as Walker Fowler led the top four guys around the fresh track. Borich took over second on lap two when McGill pulled over to let him by on the motocross track. This opened up the door for the four time champ to run down Fowler; it took Borich a few laps to make the pass stick and after several attempts Borich put his Suzuki out front on the final lap.

Borich and Fowler came through the Pro pits on the final laps side by side with their quads in the rev limiter. Fans went wild as the two drag raced down the strip, when they came to the turn it was Borich who had the lead. It looked like it would be smooth sailing for the champ from there, but a lapper stopped quickly in front of them. Borich hit the lapper and Fowler hit Borich leaving them in a tangle for a few seconds, the crowd watched with excitement as the mess pulled apart as quickly as it had happened and Borich took off holding the number one spot.

After getting tangled up with a lapped rider, Chris Borich put the hammer down racing Walker Folwer to the finish line!

“It was a tough one, Fowler was really rolling on the motocross track and I just worked hard to get by him. Once I did I kept the hammer down, and I am happy to get the win. The Suzuki was working awesome, the Walsh / FOX combo was flawless as usual and my Maxxis Tires were hooking up everywhere,” regarded Borich after the race.

Fowler’s excitement wasn’t as great as Borich’s after the finish, but the sophomore pro has nothing to be ashamed of and put on a great race. Fowler had a good start and took over the lead on the second lap. He continued pushing to the limit, and although at times he looked to be gaining on the rest of the field, he never had more than a 1.422 second lead. Fowler was especially impressive on the motocross track and shot his Yamaha high into the sky each lap on the famous Sky Shot jump.

“I rode my own race; I kept a good pace but didn’t push too hard. There was a lot of excitement; Borich and I had a tight battle at the end. We even got a bit tangled on the last lap in the pits. I tired really hard to get back around, but wasn’t able to get it. The Yamaha worked great for the entire race and I’m pretty happy,” said Fowler.
