The Amateur race presented quite a shake up after Super Dave Simmons experienced a mechanical issue on lap one. His absence opened up the field for an all new overall winner. Schoolboy (13-15) racer, Westley Wolfe was able to race to his first overall to date. The young racer bested Sportsman A/B racer, Kolton Burd, by nearly a minute for the center of the podium. Schoolboy racer Cody Collier rounded out the morning overall podium.

SxS Racing also added to the day as Team Big Country Powersports / Polaris earned their first win of the season. The Tompkinsville, Kentucky team took over the lead on lap three and charged ahead; they commanded the win by 02:14.391. Team March-Westin Company took second overall and earned their best finish of the season. The Morgantown, West Virginia based team surged from fifth on lap five to second on lap six. The Waynesburg, PA based Costal National Guard Team rounded out the XC1 Modified Podium.
Current point’s leader, Team Polaris National Guard had the initial lead in the race until they were sidelined on lap three. The 13th place finish was enough to keep William Yokley as the class point’s leader.
The fifth round of the AMSOIL GNCC will take place May 4th at the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC Mammoth in Kentucky. The race is sure to offer an abundance of excitement with Chris Borich looking to earn his fifth win and Chris Bithell, Adam McGill and Walker Fowler hot on his tires. The morning race should be just as exciting as Dave Simmons looks to regain his place on the podium and the young racers try to best him.
