ATVA Extreme Dirt Track
Round #2 - Links
DuQuoin, IL - Any part of the country in a drought needs only to schedule a National Extreme Dirt Track event to be guaranteed rain. Round 2 of the ATVAs Duro Extreme Dirt Track Nationals was shortened due to heavy rains early Saturday evening. The rain first moved in Saturday morning before practice, and Promoter, Steve Nace, and his crew worked hard all morning to get the track ready for the start of practice and the heat races.

The day was scheduled for 42 amateur and youth heat races plus 8 Pro and ProAm heat races before the main events. After 26 heat amateur and youth heat races were completed, the rain moved back in and caused a brief delay in the racing action, and with the forecast of heavier rain on the way, the officials decided to move up the Pro and ProAm heat races earlier in the day.

With an abundance of riders in the Pro class, the class was split up into three into three divisions, and in the first Pro heat race, Danny Mcgraw jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. Zac Willett and Brad Riley followed Mcgraw and although all three riders stayed close, each held their position throughout the 6 lap race..

#113 Doug Crossway went for a wild ride at the start of Heat 2, which forced a restart, but Crossway was ok, and restarted the race on the back row

Rage ATV's Harold Goodman pulled Holeshot in both starts for Heat 2 and ran away from Pro Rookie Mitch Reynolds to claim the win

In the second heat, round one winner, Harold Goodman, pulled the Holeshot and quickly pulled away from the rest of the field. Mitch Reynolds was second and Zach Stanley worked his way back to third after dropping back to fifth midway through the race.

In the final heat race, Sparks Racing’s Shane Hitt took the early lead over Frank Batista and Michael Coburn. Coburn quickly moved ahead of Batista in the first lap as did Kelsey Stamm in lap three. Batista was able to regain the 3rd spot in the final lap to follow Hitt and Coburn at the checkered flag.

#5 Shane Hitt grabbed the Holeshot with his Sparks Engine and recorded the fastest Heat Race time of the day

#038 Michael Colburn took over the 2nd spot and #13 Frank Batista claimed the 3rd spot ahead of #426 Kelsey Stamm
