CMRC ATV Motocross Racing - Pro ATV MX 2010 Overview Report
::Continued::

Jasmin Plante - Yamaha YFZ450R ATV
Canada's Jasmin Plante made his returns to motocross racing after being sidelined since 2004 after a mid season leg injury to come back & win the 2007 Championship in Canada
2006 was also a crazy season with a three way battle with Richard Pelchat, Jasmin Plante and James Bank. Richard Pelchat recovered from a tough DNF to win the final 4 motos of the season and win the Championship by only one point over James Bank.

2007 was a battle between Jasmin Plante and James Bank. Jasmin came out on on top. Richard Pelchat was venturing in the WPSA championship in the United States.

In the year 2008, Richard Pelchat was back to get the Crown for BRP/Can-am. Richard had to recover from a nasty mid season crash and once again got the best of the other racers by winning the last 3 events of the season.

In 2009, many changes were introduced. The name of the series was changed to CANADA CUP with less, but more pronounced rounds. Richard Pelchat once again ran smooth to take over the CUP ahead of James Bank.

So in total, Québec racer Richard Pelchat has won the Canada Cup Championship an astounding seven times since his first win in 2002 and currently sits in third place in points for the 2010 season. “ I am not too happy to be sitting in third place right now, but with 8 rounds left, I will do anything possible to come back on top once again,” said Pelchat during talks.

Jasmin Plante - Yamamha YFZ450R ATV

Richard Pelchat currently sits in 3rd place overall in the 2010 CMRC Canada Cup Points chase & is looking to defend his seven ATV MX titles

Fellow Quebec ATV MX racer, Jasmin Plante is also in the running for the 2010 Canada Cup Crown as he sits in 2nd place overall after rounds 4&5 at Walton MX

Richard also commented about the series, “ Canadian Championship is all about bragging rights...that is why we race so hard at it. I am very proud to have come on top seven times. It actually feels almost surreal that I have won it that many times. I have always put a lot of effort and dedication into each season. Each Championship has a story and is special to me. I have worked hard at making things better, more professional, and trying to get more exposure to the championship series. It gets frustrating at times with the series, but there is always some amazing ATV racing and great competition''

Greg Gee - Honda TRX450R ATV
#10 Greg Gee battled with 2010 AMA ATV MX Champion Josh Creamer of the US at round 10 of the series held at Red Bud MX - Gee currently sits in 1st place overall in the Canada Cup Championship points & takes every opportunity he can get to get a little extra seat time
Richard is currently in a three-way battle for the championship with 2007 Champion, Yamaha’s Jasmin Plante, and Baldwin Motorsports/Honda’s Greg Gee. The young Greg Gee is currently leading in the overall championship points after rounds four and five of the series held at Walton MX. The Ontarian, Gee is pouring his heart and soul into this season as it will be the first time in nearly 20 years that an ATV racer, outside of Québec, has won the championship.

Rounds are held as “double-headers” which run on Saturday and Sunday with premier classes being the Pro ATV and Pro-Am ATV classes. Pro Purses are up for grabs as well as the obviously, ever important championship points chase. Hot laps are run before each moto so that way the racers can become accustomed to the track conditions and then their 15 minute, action packed moto will ensue.

The next round of the CMRC Championship series will take place at X-Town MX Park in Quebec on August 21st and 22nd which will see Pelchat, Plante, and Gee battling it out over two back-to-back rounds once again. August 28th and 29th will then play host to two more rounds of the Canada Cup at OCD Parry Sound raceway as the Championship becomes wrapped up and a new champion is crowned. Can Greg Gee pull out the win for the first time, or will the Quebec’s Plante and Pelchat persevere and come out on top? Be sure to keep an eye on this exciting series as we head into the latter part of August!
