BITD Polaris RZR Mint 400 UTV
Race Report
::Continued::
Redlands’ Ryan Laidlaw backed up his victory
in the last race, the UTV World Championship,
with a third-place finish in Pro Turbo. It marked
just his second race in his new Polaris RZR Turbo.

the Turbo Class |
“We had a really good start, but we lost a couple
of belts, which took a little of the edge off,”
said Laidlaw. “We finished third, which is a good
day at the Mint. The course got rougher as the
day went on. We had a really good time.”
The Murray brothers celebrated their 41st consecutive
BITD finish. Jason Murray credited his Can-Am
Maverick for the amazing string of consistency.
Derek Murray ran the first three laps of the race
before handing it off the Jason for the final
circuit.

“These Can-Ams rock…not only are they fast, but
they are reliable,” said Jason Murray. “These
things take a beating out here. What we do in
a day, a consumer will do in four or five months.
It just shows how durable these Can-Am Mavericks
are. I pushed on the final lap to try to get on
the podium, but there just wasn’t time. This puts
us second overall going into Laughlin. Hopefully
when the dust settles we’ll be in the championship.”
Can-Am’s Derek Murray employed a conservative
strategy that fell just one spot short of the
podium at the end. “We settled on fourth, which
is a little disappointing, but we’ll take it,”
said Derek Murray. “We had no flats or any other
issues and we were hoping Jason could pick up
a spot at the end, but while we ran a clean race,
so did everyone else in front of us.”
