Best in the Desert - Parker
250 - ATV & SxS Race Report
::Continued::
The Maxxis /CT Racing team was in mid pack off
the start, but Baron, who is well accustomed to
plowing through traffic, charged his way into
the number two spot by the end of the first lap.
From there, Nelson took over and paced himself
for the long lap to come. Nelson fell back briefly,
but in the final lap, Baron again took the reins
and put the hammer down. Baron made his way back
up to the number two spot and was closing the
gap on the 1Q team.

5Q's Beau Baron started the Parker 250 &
he took over again in the final lap from
Nick Nelson to bring it home for a 2nd place
finish |
Baron had caught up quite a bit to the leader,
and would have made a pass, but the dust came
into play when he caught up to a Side-by-Side
as was not able to see to get by. Baron eventually
got past the SxS, but ran out of time before he
was close enough to make a move for the lead and
would reach the checkered flag in second place.

Racing's #5Q Nick Nelson charges through
the sand wash in lap two |
“Everything went well for us. We had a
good race and Beau did a really good job. The
track was pretty brutal in some spots, but everything
held together for us and we finished well,”
said Nelson.
The Pro-ATV Store’s 8Q team of Josh Edwards
and Matthew Hancock, who were last year’s
Expert class champions, made the move to the pro
class for 2012 under the guidance of MCR Racing’s
Mike Cafro. The Pro-ATV Store team were the first
off the line and held the physical led until the
end of the second lap when the 1Q team was able
to get by. Edwards and Hancock held a steady pace,
but came under fire from 5Q’s Beau Baron
late in the race and fell back to the number three
spot, where they would stay until reaching the
finish line.

Pro-ATV
Store's 8Q Team (Matt Hancock & Josh
Edwards) made an impressive Pro BITD debut
with a Top 3 finish |
“This was their first pro race in the BITD
series and to finish third on such a rough track
is a pretty big accomplishment. They did a great
job and I think this is a great start of the season
for them,” stated team manager Mike Cafro.
