ATVCCS Kicks off 2011
Season at The Pit
::Continued::
The top three riders threw down the first lap
in 18 minutes, which is hauling the mail. Dowden
was in the lead followed by Caleb Hamm, Bobby
McLaughlin, and Mac Young. Caleb and Bobby both
got by Dowden on the second lap and in the process
Caleb knocked his muffler off. Not only did that
make his machine horribly loud it also created
a significant loss in power.
While Caleb was dealing with those issues Bobby
was dealing with his own in the way of poorly
working suspension. Mac on the other hand was
just trying to avoid all those jumping trees.
Even with all the excuses these guys continued
to circulate the track faster than all the other
riders and Caleb ended up taking the win in his
first attempt in the Expert class. Bobby was second,
Dowden third, and Mac Young fourth. In the Intermediate
class Logan James and Jared Dobbs were squared
up to do battle.

Unfortunately for Jared his day would come to
an early end with a severely bent tie rod after
making contact with a tree. Logan rode a smart
and consistent race to bring home the win. In
the Open class Joshua Miller took the win from
wire to wire. After have several issues with his
Suzuki 450 last year, he decided to ride the Honda
400 and it looks like it paid off. Justin Boyer
finished second, Chris Hunt third and Jason Miller
fourth. Jason was only able to make one lap before
retiring to truck with machine problems. The Amateur
class was a test for who could reach the finish
line. All riders ended up out of the race but
two riders. Chris Wcislo came down to the States
from Canada to escape the snow and saw our series
on the internet and decided to throw in a race
while visiting. I’m sure he’s glad
he did as he is headed back North with a first
place plaque in hand. Derek Robinson rode a strong
consistent race and finished second in class and
was 3 minutes back. Josh Schenck did get one lap
in the books and that was all he needed to nail
down third in class. Jonathan Sterling had a solo
run in the Junior class for a win.

In the 35+ class Todd Clark was dominating. Todd
the lead from the start and was never challenged
for the win. Crede Young gave chase to Todd and
kept him honest but as the race wore on Todd just
continued to stretch out his lead. At times during
the race it looked like Dan Greene might be able
to reel in Crede but then one lap later Crede
would pull away. Bucky Goza man handled the Can-Am
650 around the course and finished in fourth place.
In the 45+ class Donny Rutherford had his KTM
in the early lead followed by Ron Swift and Dennis
Wilson. On the second lap the KTM of Ron Swift
was in the lead and Donny in second. Dennis had
to retire after lap two when he began to feel
ill. Donny and Ron raced hard and stayed pretty
close to one another until late in the race when
Ron appeared to have just a little bit more reserve
in his gas tank. Ron won, Donny second and Dennis
third.
Next race is at Caddo Point in Cash Texas on
April 17, 2011. See you there!
