Buchanan,
MI (7/27/2008) – Honda’s
Joe Byrd may have taken the overall win this weekend
at Red Bud MX, but it was Suzuki’s Dustin
Wimmer who really had something to celebrate as
he clenched his first AMA ATV Motocross National
Pro Championship after the first Moto.
The highly popular Red Bud MX has always received
a huge turnout, but for 2008, it was the 2nd largest
ever with 715 race entries, and the Ritchie family
had the newly redesigned track in prestine condition
for the weekend, and the new 75 foot step up for
the Pros created a buzz around the pits. Also, the
famous LaRocco’s leap was open for everyone
to attempt the massive uphill triple, but unfortunately,
even the pros couldn’t get enough traction
to land on top of the triple jump.

KTM was also
in attendance at Red Bud with their media
& public debut of the 2009 KTM 450SX
& 505SX ATVs. KTM invited all the
major ATV media outlets including ATVriders.com
to test ride & race their motocross
race ready ATVs in a special Industry
class race
(photo galley link) on Sunday. Ofcourse,
#4 Tim Farr out ran the field of editors
and a few pro/pro-am racers to claim the
win & Farr came back out to dominate
the 30+ class on a nearly stock KTM as
well. An overview of the new KTM SX ATVs
features will be released soon along with
a full review by Pro-Am racers, Kyle Damman
& Nick DeNoble.

French
Pro ATV Racer, Jeremie Warnia, qualified
an impressive 11th Overall in Saturday's
timed qualifiers, which was his USA Pro
Class Debut |
In qualifiers, it was Wimmer who once again had
the fastest lap time, while teammate Chad Wienen
was looking good and appeared to be back to 100%
as he qualified in second to Wimmer followed by
John Natalie Jr. rounding out the top three. Surprisingly,
some top names didn’t make the top 16 cut
including Honda’s Harold Goodman, who wrecked
during qualifying, so he was headed to the LCQ
along with 8 other Pros and only 4 would be advancing
to Sunday.
American Honda/ Houser Racing’s Harold
Goodman grabbed the LCQ Holeshot and lead the
race from start to finish to secure his spot on
the gate, and he was followed by Kawasaki’s
Keith Little, East Coast ATV’s Jason Dunkelberger
and privateer, Rocco Arno, Jr. John Ragon, Hunter
Miller, Trent Kandel and Rich Stambach were unable
to qualify for the Pro main event..

The Pro LCQ was stacked with some
top riders this weekend with Harold Goodman
taking the win with Keith Little, Jason
Dunkelberger, and Rocco Arno Jr all advancing
to Sunday |
#98
John Ragon was one of the four that didn't
qualify for the Pro race, but he didn't
get a chance to race one of the media KTM
ATV's on Sunday in the Industry Class |
