AMA ATV MX Nationals
- Loretta Lynn's- Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued::
Moto two was another fantastic finish for Hetrick.
The number 88 charged off the start in second
behind Josh Upperman and began to apply the pressure
after a few laps. Hetrick took the lead with only
a few laps to go and pulled away to finish more
than five seconds ahead of the pack, taking the
moto two win and the overall.

Baldwin Motorsport's #20 Josh Upperman grabbed
the Moto 2 holeshot with #88 Joel Hetrick
in chase till lap ten, when Hetrick made
the pass for the lead. Hetrick would go
on to record the fastest laptime of the
Moto in lap 12 with a 01:36.837 |
|
Makson's
#88 Joel Hetrick went 1-1 for the Overall
Win, which also boosted him into the Top
5 in points by edging out Chase Snapp by
just 4 points, which also most likely secured
Hetrick as the Pro ATV Rookie of the Year |
“Josh grabbed the moto two holeshot, but I
got around him. It was really great to win the final
round of the season. I couldn’t be any happier!”
said Hetrick, who ended his season in a very impressive
fifth in pro points.
The AMA Pro ATV Motocross season may be over,
but Hetrick isn’t finished with racing this
year as he prepares to leave in just a few days
for France along with GBC’s Travis Moore
to compete in the 25th annual Maxxis 12 Hours
of Pont de Vaux ATV endurance next Saturday and
Sunday, and ATVriders.com will be providing daily
updates from the race.
In moto one, Baldwin Motorsports’ Josh
Upperman came off the start in fifth right behind
Natalie and followed him past Joe Byrd and into
the number three spot. Upperman held his third
place position for the rest of the moto, dropping
off time a bit towards the end of the moto, but
claiming third at the checkered flag.
|
The
battle for the Pro Championship was as intense
as ever in Moto One with Josh Upperman &
John Natalie battling for position early
the Moto with Natalie making the pass, with
Upperman finishing in the 3rd spot in Moto
One |
For moto two, Upperman grabbed the holeshot and
was holding a nice lead, but Joel Hetrick closed
in and took the lead with only a few laps to go.
Upperman kept his position and went on to finish
in the number two spot in moto two and take second
place overall. Upperman’s incredible consistency
this season also allowed him to finish in second
in the pro points championship.
|
Baldwin's
#20 Josh Upperman grabbed the Moto 2 Holeshot
& held the lead for neartly the entire
moto before dropping back to the 2nd spot
by the checkered flag, which gave Upperman
2nd Overall on the weekend & in the
points race |
“I had no idea where John was on the start
of the second moto and I just went out there and
rode as hard as I could and gave it my all. It’s
been a really good season and I can’t thank
Mark and Baldwin Motorsports enough for everything
they have done for me this season,” stated
Upperman.
