AMA ATV MX Nationals
- Birch Creek - Pro ATV Race Report
::Continued::
Chad Wienen was in third off the line and was
pressuring Josh Upperman for second, but it appeared
that Wienen would run into mechanical issues and
drop back to take a fifth place finish in the
first moto. In the second moto, Wienen was involved
in a nasty crash into the first downhill section
that also claimed teammate Jeremie Warnia and
Cody Grant. Despite the crash, Wienen worked his
way from the back of the pack into the number
seven spot before reaching the checkered flag.
Wienen’s 5-7 finishes would put him in sixth
overall.
Pat Brown would put in two consistent motos taking
ninth in moto one after a tough battle with Can-Am’s
Jeremie Warnia. In moto two, Brown would have
a solid moto, finishing sixth to give him seventh
overall; his best finish so far this season.
Greg Gee would hang on to round out the top ten
in moto one, but came back strong in moto two.
Gee was second off the line, but would fall back
after getting pressured by Creamer and Natalie
and end moto two in eighth place.
Clay Holmes would do battle with Nick DeNoble,
but fall back for a 12th place finish in the first
moto. Holmes would fare a little better in moto
two, taking a ninth place finish despite spinning
out early in the moto.

#20
Josh Upperman appeared to be on his way
to a season first Podium finish when he
suffered a mechanical issue, which sidelined
him in Moto 2 |
Josh Upperman had an impressive first moto as he
shadowed Wimmer in second place for several laps
before Josh Creamer would catch him. Upperman
and Creamer would have a good battle before Upperman
would fall back to third where he would finish
out moto one. Upperman was again second off the
line in moto two and began battling with Dustin
Wimmer for the lead right away. The pair would
connect in lap two and Upperman would take over
the lead, but shortly after, his quad would shut
off and he would not be able to get it re-fired,
giving him a 16th place finish for moto two.
