Trinity
Racing put together this wild 160 horsepower
custom Yamaha Banshee for display! |
On the ATV side of things, many of the major players
from engine builders to bling artists were on hand.
Trinity Racing had an impressive booth showing off
some of their insane custom quads including a 160
horsepower drag Banshee and a Raptor 700 bored and
stroked to 900 cc’s.
Equally as impressive was the large assortment
of custom quads on display with RIS designs. A
classic LT250R was a big head turner as was the
commemorative purple flame banshee which was unveiled
at the show in honor of the late Rudy Monjaraz
who past away last year. RIS certainly won the
award for most billet products on display at the
show. From custom transparent clutch covers, to
billet gas caps and shifters, RIS has established
themselves as the world leader in billet products.

DASA
Racing is no newcomer to the aftermarket
ATV world & this year they brought along
their custom build Honda TRX with side-pipe
exhaust! |
Dasa Engineering was another engine builder present
at the 12th annual Sand sport Super show and had
several custom quads on display. Probably best known
in the ATV community for building professional racer
Joe Byrds holeshot winning engines, the team at
Dasa knows how to get big HP numbers out of an engine.
In the world of tires and wheels, DWT just released
their new three piece Alumilite Sector wheel for
UTV’s and side by sides. Its three piece
design allows easy replacement of only one wheel
half or the beadlock if that part becomes dented
or damaged, as opposed to replacing the entire
wheel. DWT also considered that many users ride
both the trails as well as the sand and the new
design allows the user to change the offset by
adding a wider or narrower wheel half.

DWT
would be on hand as well with their spacious
booth & would unveild their new "Champion
in a Box" kits |
For the ATV crowd, DWT rolled out their new Champion
in a Box Race kits. The kit offers four different
applications including WORCS, Motocross, Desert/XC
and Jr Champions and includes four DWT wheels specific
to that terrain as well as mud caps, a DWT hat and
sticker kit.
No doubt the economy has played a major role
in the number of vendors able to make a presence
at this years event. Additionally while many companies
were present, the number of new products being
released were down. It’s apparent that R&D
budgets are down and many companies are working
to just stay afloat and whether the storm. No
matter, here are a few of our show favorites that
we were impressed with.

Wash-15
would introduce their newest creation for
duners with their dual-port flag pole mounting
system which solves the problems with traditional
mounting brackets |
Every dune goer has dealt with the headache of breaking
a flag. Not everyone is convinced that a steel whip
flag is the way to go but if you’re using
the standard fiberglass rod, sooner or later you’re
going to break one. The guys at Wash-15 Offroad
have created a hassle free flag mounting system
that completely eliminates the headache of trimming
and remounting a broken flag. The billet aluminum
bracket is a simple three piece clamping design
that works similar to a vice.
As you slide the broken flag, frayed end and
all, back into the mound, the two halves compress
the frayed end together and your back in the saddle
in record time. An added bonus is a second mounting
hole in the event that you stumble across a fallen
flag lying out in the dunes. Instead of trying
to awkwardly carry the flag back to camp, you
can just pop it into the spare mount and keep
riding.
