Throughout
the off season many hours of testing went
on to make sure Chad Wienen's Can-Am DS450
was ready for the start of the 2011 Race
Season

The offseason couldn’t be all work and
no play so for New Years Thomas Brown, Danica
and I headed out to Denver, Colorado. Here we
met up with Justin Carter to count down the New
Year. We had a lot of fun, snowboarded on some
fresh powder at Breckenridge, made some good memories
and Thomas even found his new liking for disco
balls.
Throughout the offseason we had to head down
to Southern California a handful of times to get
all of our testing sorted out for the upcoming
season. Meeting up with Fox and good ole’
Ricky Strickland and Big Jim to get our suspension
in the right place. Also had another test session
for EFI mapping with Can-Am and Rotax. I just
want to send a big thank you to Marcel and Simon
from Can-Am, Ralph from Rotax and especially my
mechanic Ryan Cox for making it a success.
We had to make a special trip back home to celebrate
my birthday and surprise, I’m an uncle!
My brother, Matt and his wife, Katie had a baby
boy. Jeb Wienen weighing in at 7 lbs. 6 oz., a
tad bit too short to sit up on a 50 but he’s
growing fast it won’t be long so watch out!
The offseason to me is also getting everything
hammered out with all of my personal sponsors
to make sure that we are on track and a go ahead
for the next season. This year I was able to continue
my relationship with several of my past sponsors
including, Fly Racing, Alpinestars, EVS Sports,
Scott USA, SSi Decals, and Shoei Helmets. Also,
I was able to add T.O.P. Performance Training,
Max Muscle Sports Nutrition of Highlands Ranch,
and Lucky’s Media and Photography on board.
With this personal backing I have all of the pieces
to help me reach that red plate this season.
As Round 1 got closer, we were on the road to
head closer towards Atlanta. We stopped at County
Line MX in Panama City, FL for about two weeks.
Here, my trainer Justin Carter met us to come
on board as my full-time trainer. So far things
are looking positive for the 2011 season and I
am looking forward to the gate dropping at Aonia
Pass and seeing some new and familiar faces.
Take care, ride safe, I’m out!
