Colby & Dusty Kostman: History of C&D
Racing Service & Parts
::Continued::
ATVriders.com:
I also noticed that your shop is packed with all
kinds of ATVs, so you must get a fair amount of
local traffic to your shop.
Colby Kostman: Yes
we can work on just about anything from minis,
utility, and ofcourse sport ATVs. Some of the
ATVs belong to our XC racing customers and are
here for engine rebuilds and suspension work.
Others belong to our drag race customers; those
guys are always looking to push the limits with
their engines.

C&D
Racing is kept busy with all types of engine
work, From topend maintance on two and four
strokes to specialty full engine builds
for all types of racing |
ATVriders.com:
What type of engine work can you do here at C&D
Racing?
Colby Kostman:
We can do just about anything. We perform a lot
of cylinder head porting and valve train reconditioning,
cylinder boring, rebuild and balance cranks along
with installing bore stroker kits and nitrous for
our drag race customers.
ATVriders.com:
Nitrous that sounds fun!!
Colby Kostman:
It can really take a properly built engine to
the next level. One of the newest power bosters
is the conversion to E85 fuel. It has a lot of
the same advantages as alcohol without the corrosive
properties. Most of our drag racers like it because
it has a high-octane and gains about 10% increase
in horsepower and torque over most race gas, and
more importantly it is cheap. Having a full chassis
dyno right here in the shop has really allowed
us to do so many new things.
ATVriders.com:
Are all the engines you work on from the local
area?
Colby Kostman:
No we have a lot of cylinders, cylinder heads
and crank shafts shipped in from all over the
US for repair and modifications. We also offer
full engine services here, if a customer wants
to ship us their entire engine and have us do
all the work for them we are happy to provide
that service.

C&D Racing has been servicing
and revalving ATV suspension for years.
They recently became an authorized Race
Tech suspension center |
ATVriders.com:
Speaking of services, I see there is a lot of stock
shocks & aftermarket shocks on your work bench,
so are all those shocks in for service?
Colby Kostman: Some
of them are here for general service, like fluid
change, seals, etc. Others are being revalved and
resprung. We do a lot of rework on aftermarket shocks,
someone may have bought them used and need them
setup for their weight and specific needs, or they
are just not happy with the ride quality of the
shocks they bought new. We correct the length and
stroke on them and change the valving and spring
setup to what we have tested to work the best.
