Las Vegas, NV (10/30/2015)
– The too-often quoted adage in racing “To finish
first, one first must finish” is most appropriate
when describing Ryan Piplic’s second championship
season in the 2015 WORCS Pro Side by Side Championship.
Piplic says it best: “Consistency won the championship
this year.”
This statement is backed up easily by Piplic’s
2015 results. Piplic won two races this year,
but only finished off the podium three times
when bad luck struck at Rounds 2 and 8 where
he finished 10th, and in the season finale
where he merely needed a top-ten to earn the
title. In the end, he was eight points ahead
in the title chase, and he won his second
Number 1 plate of his storied career.

“This solidifies me as a real racer in my
mind,” said Piplic. “It’s not too often that
people get two championships so I’ve proved
to myself that I can stay up front, especially
considering the level of talent out there
in the WORCS series. WORCS has, in my opinion,
the best side by side racers on the planet.”
The season finale was a microcosm of Piplic’s
season. With an eye on a consistent finish,
Piplic was sixth in the final race. However,
the racer in him made it difficult for him
not to try to go out with a victory.

“I knew I only had to finish tenth or better
to win the championship, so I went in with
that mindset,” said Piplic. “Starts can be
very hairy there, so I let everyone go at
the start and saved the car. It was the hardest
thing I’ve ever done. I could have mixed it
up with the top guys, but it wasn’t worth
the risk of a possible DNF, so I raced with
my mind, not my right foot.”
Polaris’ factory support, along with car
builders Nelson & Nelson and Long Travel
Industries, as well as his other sponsors
Maxxis Tires, FOX, Muzzy Exhaust, Rugged Radios,
and Tire Blocks made it possible for Piplic’s
run this season.
“I don’t think it’s possible to compete in
our level of competition without manufacturer
support and a great group of sponsors,” explained
Piplic. “Polaris has been huge in our championship
this season.”
Polaris and Piplic unveiled the company’s
new RZR Turbo in the Unlimited Class in the
second-to-last race of the season. Piplic
scored a podium finish in the debut, and he
won the Unlimited race at the season finale.

“I brought out the new Polaris Turbo to these
last two races to try to break it,” laughed
Piplic. “I wanted to see what it could do,
and we got the win.”
Piplic will defend his WORCS title next season
driving a Polaris in the Pro Class, as well
as running a full season in Unlimited. Just
like this year, Nelson & Nelson will prepare
and build his Pro RZR, while Long Travel Industries
will build and maintain the Unlimited machine.
“We’re going for two championships next year,”
said Piplic. “It’s a lot of work, but I think
with our sponsors, Polaris and myself, we
can do it.”
In just over two months, Ryan Piplic will
be in action at the 2016 WORCS season opener
on January 9th at Honolulu Hills in Taft,
California
