another "Dunetopia" group ride in June!!!Whos coming????!!!

I know its still months away ,but for those who are coming from afar, I thought this may be a good time to post the next Duntopia trip.!!!:blah: Last year wassuch a good turnout and I met tons of very cool people.:) This years trip will be again at St. Anthonys Idaho. We are shootin for June 17th and like last year, Ill prol have another big BBQ for anyone showing the day before the drive up.We went a little later last year and it was just about TOO HOT so we moved the date up a few weeks this year,MAy the weahter is still too unpredictilbe and July-Aug is bloody hot:eek2: So anyone interesred .LETS GET A HEAD COUNT AND DREAM OF SAND FOR A FEW MORE MONTHS!!!!:blah: :macho Tina .........

Quadjunkies, as you know I am trying to make sure I can get there at the same time as the rest of you but I am not bringing my girls and that weekend is fathers day so I would have to decide what to do unless, you gues aren't staying through the weekend. If I do get to hook up with all of you it should be my wife and I along with 3 to 6 more rolling in from North Dakota.

AMMO That is Fathers Day wk end huh:huh hmm I didnt even notive that when we wre working on a Date for the trip...... I planeed on staying for 4 days. So we would leave VERY early Fri. morning, get there around 2-3 ish, get our rooms and then go straight to the dunes!:macho Let me know if this poses a problem for you......;) What were the dates you were shooting for again?

Well the 17th of june is on a thursday so, are you guys planning on being there the 17th-20th? If that is the case then I will be at ST. Anthony's the morning of the 15th or 16th and be staying until the 22nd or so.

Ok Quadjunkies, I got it in stone (as much as possible this early) that my girls will be at Grandmas from 15 June to 25 June so, we will be there. Right now we figure 3 to 8 of us will be there on the 15th or 16th with bells on and ready to ride.


The rides that hopefully will be with us will include.

Me and the wife with 1 green V-Force and 1 Orange V-Force
Hopw you will all still like me without a Honda.

AMMO Rexburg is about 20 minutes from the dunes. You might ask Dune Surfer how much the rates were where he stayed, I know it was close to us ,just down the road, and its cheaper than where we stay...:) I think it was Days Inn?

Joe there is Sand Hills resort they have facilities there,also new campgrounds at LAke Egin,Im not sure on showers there though, it was still under some construction when we were there last summer.... Rooms, I really am not sure I get a discount from a Bud of mine:D But Im guessing if you reserve fairly early online you get rooms failry decent....look for lodging in Rexburg Idaho....... Ill post some links later this week for camping,lodging,ect....:)

Sorry to say I won't be able to make it over there this year, but I'm taking my vacation in July instead of June. My boyfriend Dan and I are flying to Nashville to visit his dad for a week, so any far off dune trips aren't going to be in my summer schedule. If anyone wants to come to Oregon for a ride all they have to do is let me know and I'll be their tour guide for a day or 2, maybe more!! Don't listen to what JOEX has to say though about my tour guide capabilities, he just doesn't know how to keep up with a girl on a little old 300ex. ;) :p hehe, j/k!!!

Well, ThorChick pointed out a tree shot for me to try and like the dumbarse guy I am I went for it. :rolleyes: After about three or four tries I was just about to the top then I missed the trail on top. The sand was extreamly soft, tried side hilling it but as the tires were spinning forward I was sliding back.:eek:

In the pics the the hill I was trying to get up is about 20 or feet to the right and and i'm sitting about 20 feet below the nearest flat spot. Had to get winched out. It was fun though:p

It was at Florence, I think it was close to South Jetty, Goose Pasture maybe? It was just a side hill near the trees on the east side of the dunes.

It was about an hour wait for her to get back with the others from camp.

dirtmomma, stock tires do pretty well in the sand just don't expect to be climbing any big hills.;)

Man! I really wish that St.Anthonys wasn't 13+ hours away!!:mad: I really would like to meet up with some of you guys and gals. It would be a blast going on a big Exriders dune or dirt ride. During the big weekends over here at the sand dunes people from the site said there going to be there but we never seem to meet up, to many people I guess.

Oh believe me I'm trying I'm trying!!! We are NOT going to make it to the ATV jamboree in Wallace this year:( dang it it would of been our 5th yr in a row but oh well there's next year. Anyway we are going to Rapid City,SD around the middle of July so ya just never know we'll have to see how Ron's work is, hopefully he doesn't use all his vacation time/pay for his arm.. BUT I am going to try to make it out your way in March that sounds pretty cool, give me dirt & I will ride LOL sand is another story for me, only been on it once & that was w/ my 4x4 so it was nice, hey MAYBE I'll bring that LMAO hehehe. I did try to make it up some little baby hill on Ron's 400 & keep killing it & got it stuck :rolleyes: I was pretty green back then though:o I'm sure I would do better this time. The day we get up there(or the next morning) we all can meet up for some Breakfast at the Restruant next to where we Lodge for a meeting spot and have everyone follow those up to the dunes who have not been there before. This worked out very nicely last year.. Also, I could put a Sign on our Gabezo out front of where we will be I m pretty sure we wont be hard to find with this BIG a group!:blah: :macho

But I do believe we need to make sure we know who and where everyone is and a breakfast the first morning would be awsome. I would try and make as much of it as I can in one day, but my mom doesn't want to be in the car continously for that long, so we are going to stop more than halfway for the night, and be there on Friday afternoon. Staying til Tuesday, and may do some sight seeing after that for a day or two.. I'd personally rather ride for more days lol.

Well, heck. I got the extra paddles, no point in leaving them at home if another member can use 'em. I don't think the added weight of two extra wheels will decrease my gas mileage by all that much... :p

I already am in the works for a trip there for the first week of May but if somehow I can swing a work trip in that time frame I certainly wouldn't mind going again. Last year was a BLAST!

As for the Oregon riders...I have trips set up for Mem, 4th, & Labor day to Coos Bay and of course Dune Fest :D

I just wanted to stop in and say we are a go for this trip from North Dakota. We made our reservation last night. We got a suite at Best Western in Rexburg. We will get there on the 16th and head out on the 23rd. Anyway, I will talk at you guys later. We ought to contact the hotel to negotiate a group-rate on the hotel rooms.

Before that happens, check online. This last christmas, when we had our christmas party, the hotel offered us a special "group rate" of $150 for a hotel room, but I was able to book it online at $99. So if we want to get a group rate, lets go in with ammunition and barter for a better deal than online reservations.

I hear the sound levels in Idaho are 96db? Am I going to need to buy quiet cores for my V or do they not even look at you over there. I need to know from people who ride there a lot so I can get them ordered if I need them. I would just hate to get over there and not be able to ride.

We have been going up the last few summers, and NEVERR have they done sound checks. And we park RIGHT in front of the Cop Shop with our Trailer:huh !!! They dont inforce sound DB You should be just fine;)

AMMO my buddy rode his yz250 w/o one......You will need to buy an off road sticker once you get here, they are only 10.00 I believe and you can buy them at an ATV shop in Rexburg when you get here, or at the Pit Stop at the Lake Egin......:)

I have been doing tons of research on paddles and from what I have read along with my limited trips to the dunes I think I am going to put 22" Sand Stars all the way around on mine. Everyone I have talked to seems to be very please with these, atleast on the V. I think right now NDPredator is kinda leaning that way also. I have had one guy tell me to run 24" haulers on the V but at 350 a set they can keep them.

AMMO yeah the haulers are TOTALLY expensive!:eek2: we saw 3 different Predaotrs that were seriously Haulin with this one kind of padle but I cant remember what they were called:huh when I find out(our buddie has a set too) Ill let you know. They hooked up nice......... I love the Turbo paddles with my EX but they sucked with the Predator.Im not ready to go for a totally new paddle yet. Ive bought soooo many paddles in recent years, I dont want another dissapoinment and have to buy again......:( IVe heard alot of people like those sand tires. Me personally ,wqill stick with a good climbin paddle and go with a straight paddle;)

Well actually Tina they say those sand stars are an awesome climbing tire. Even though they are an angled paddle, they say that since they have those little paddles on the inside too that they hook up really well and might be the best paddle out right now. ATV SPORT did a review on them in the march 2004 issue and had nothing but good to say about them. Might be something to look into. Thanks!!!!!

I think the sand skate 2's are a very good tire, That's what I'm running and it is the one most people a Glamis are useing. Climbs everything and turns and slides great. Light too. Dam so many people are going to Idaho this year I might have to bear that 16 hour drive AGAIN. I guess its worth it to ride with good people at a good spot.

Yeah, my buddy has sand skates I think and he seems to like them a lot.

Dunedurfer, we have a drive about that long too. It really makes you think about it but I think this trip will be well worth the drive with all the people that are going to be there. I am really getting geared up for this trip:D .

Some of my friends that I ride with went down to the dunes last summer and said it was great.So the plan is we're all going to try and come for the weekend around the 17 of June.I was wondering if anyone can suggest good parking, camping, etc. We live in southern Manitoba Canada , so it's going to be a little road trip, but I think it'll be worth it.

thanks You will prol. want to jet for the trip, The Elev. is approx. 5000 ft. If your into some serious hill climbing, might I suggest a straight paddle like a Hauler.if not a V paddle will be fine as well...;) Or if you still have your stockers and dont want to spend the $$ for a one time trip on paddles, your stockers will be fine just wont be hookin on hills much.....

OMG its bloody FAST!!!!!!! Its having NO problem keeping up with the YFZ:D Actually they are very comparable I got some vids of hillshootin yesteday and some drag racing(those didit turn out:( ) it was cool to watch to good riders on two fast quads. The YFZ had a piston and Cam vz Predator with piston CDI I hate to say it but..... If I had the cash Avail. to me, I would be down buying a Yami myself!!!:cool: that thing is a BLAST !!!

QJ, Those YFZs are really nice and I may have got one if it was not for my wrist problems and the fact that you can't touch one up here for less than about 7800 bucks. We have had our room reserved for almost a month now. I can't wait to see you hubby and NDpredator race. We just got his 558 kit installed yesturday but we have to much snow on the ground to ride here. I am starting to think I need to get stationed over there by you guys.

Yeah it went well. It took about a week for the round trip shipping of the parts and about 7 hours of our own laber for tear down and rebuild. I can't wait to see it move. I think he is going to have some pics tomorrow or the nest day. I am painting his hood now and then he wants to put it back together.

Yea, I try too be pretty careful also but I was getting some awsome air that day and thought I'd give it a try. I ended up getting sidways in the air and it did'nt work out so well, bent an axle that was the only damage , worst part was I ended up landing in a antpile:D that was about 3years ago now I'm 32 and my bones can't take the beating anymore.

Hey guys long time since i've made a post on here, but i'm still alive. Yeah like Jay said i'm still in Texas and won't be home until probably around march 14th or so. By then i hope to let everyone know how it goes. Jay is really helping me out with some parts that i ordered so by the time i get home it should be ready. Before i left I still needed new exhaust and to send my header to jet hot. I ordered a new black powdercoated HMF pipe the day before i left so hopefully Jay will hook me up and put it on before i get back home. Maybe my header will even be done and if so I couldn't thank him enough. As for that V of his, I've still got a couple things up my sleeve for that thing. Until he opens the motor though i don't need to worry. Tina after this trip in June you might not be the only one who has tumbled to the bottom of a bowl. I've got a tendency to play hard sometimes so i might join that group. Well class is about to start now so i'll be on here off and on. Thanks!!!!!!

derrick Both are running awesome!!!!:cool: The only thing I did see on Fri night was that some smoke was comiing up from the front and right side and smelled like oil.(the EX) I dont know if some got spilled and it was buring off something or if its a gasket ect. So Im having them look at it next week just to make sure..It didnt do it at all on Sat night racing, it ran like a MOFO:D :macho I cant believe how much just the Vortex alone makes having it on the Predator now ifthey would just make a decent Cam to go with the piston it would offset it really nicely......:blah:

It seems to run good in the 60 deg temp down south, I took it for a quick spin around the block and ran it through the gears.
I'm going to start to go through it tomarrow, few minor things need to be taken care of . The air cleaner was one of them drop in K@N's, I'll be putting a PROFLOW w/ K@N and OUTERWEAR on it. Need some graphics looks too plane, was thinking of the tribleflames on it.:confused:

I got stuck in the snow today trying to get the g/f unstuck:mad: but I was able to get both vehicles out with a shovel, lots of digging:grr: this damn snow just ticks me off. Bit at least I was able to get my WORKS shocks on the Banshee, had to remove the upper a-arm to get them in, but its worth it its got about a foot of travel on the front:) stinking snow I want to ride, next month I'm out of here:macho

I ordered a proflow k-n-n intake and jet kit, the one that was in when I got it was just a drop in k-n-n =junk tipical yamaha intake, it's just a ceep way to get more HP, but!! you got to have the airbox lid on the hold the filter in, I just hate that crap:mad: I'm getting the better one, cost a few $ but better in the longrun.

I'm just going to swap the paddels that I got from one to another, got to save money somwhere:eek2:

Swapping the paddles back and forth is a good idea. That is a real easy way to save a couple hundred dollars. I hope that raptor runs strong for you!!!!
