Are you guys talking about Dean at the kawi shop? Hate to tell you this all that guy's in it for is the $$$, thats why your paying $15 for a worthless sticker to ride at a rut infested dump.
The guy wants $15 per year to ride there, that socalled track thats there has been there when I was in highschool and it still sucks.
The people who built the track at the Fairgrounds are the persons who own the company I work for, Gravel Products, I did talk to Halley Shreock(her dad owns the company) about the quad racing thing, she said that the liability was too much for quads than bikes, her son is a factory racer thatsw why that track only gets used about 2-3 times a year only when the factory sponsers are going to be there.
I do have a few personal probs with Dean, first he's an arrogant SOB and he threatened to kick my a@@ one time but he just runs his yap.Thats one reason I'll never give him any $ or do any buisness with them.
If you guys are coming out ahead on this it's only cuz your buying your suff thru him.
I'm not being a dick here or any thing , just letting you know the deal you can ask any of the other guys who have delt with him personaly.

We would have no trouble taking over Riverdale I think Derrick and I are the only ones that have ridden there in about five years. Our only problem out there is no jumps what so ever :( . However there is quit a bit of area and a starting gate in place.

actually i'm glad that you brought that up because I was out there tonight and finally got to ride it. We took some pics, but they are kinda dark so you can't really see the chamelion all that well. We need to get some pics out in the sun. All I can say about that pred is that people had better watch out!!!!!! I gotta change the gearing now though, I run out of gear in 5th before i hit the limiter.

Well, I told NDpredator I would keep it hush hush but I was able to outrun him about 50 percent of the time or better this weekend with my V. We were going to get some pics of the races but he lost 4th gear in the Predator a little later in the day:( . I guess it is a problem that has been going on with them so now we have to take it all apart again and try again. I will tell you he is looking a lot like this :( :grr: :mad: since we just got it together after the 558 kit. Anyway here are a couple pics of the quads in the daylight. Sorry ND this thread needed a bump and this is all I had to talk about besides, I am sure when you get ALL your parts I am dead meat AGAIN:eek: .

All I can say is that i never lost a race before or even found someone that could run close, but that VForce gives me ALOT more than I would like it to. We will ahve to see in June. I am a long time removed from Oregon so I don't know if I wtill know what I am doing. The one thing I am worried about is it seems the best paddle for the V is a huge 24" hauler at 380 bucks a set and I live to far from the dunes to spend that so I am stuck seeing what sand stars will do.

People seem to love that big automatic, especially modded as it seems to be able to climb anything with ease. It will be fun in June no doubt!!!!!!

To heavy and auto trans is not so good in the dunes. I ride Glamis 50+ days a year and I think he will have a tough time keeping up. Even the pred is pretty heavy to throw around I can't imagine a v-force. It makes a good wife's quad for the flats;)

Hey Dunesurfer I'm willing to bet you that that VForce of Desdak's will outrun any stock to mildly built predator or anything else for that fact that is in the dunes for that week wether it be on the flat of up choke cherry. People that HAVE rode the V in the dunes LOVE the auto trans and once you are on it you don't really feel the weight. Desdak will have NO problem keeping up with anyone over there. I wasn't a believer in the VForce until I saw first hand what one can do with some easy mods.:devil:

Well Dunesurfer, I used to think you were one of the more nicer, open minded guys on the board now I wounder:rolleyes: . I have not ever had my V in the dunes but, I have talked to hundreds of guys who have and it does great. The only problem I may have is the best tire for hook up is to much money for the amount of time I get to go to the dunes. I can say for sure my quad is no wifes quad for the flats!!! Besides if you add my 150lbs to my V I end up equal to most guys on lighter bikes. I thought this was all about people having fun anyway not bashing a quad you haven't even seen in action before we are even all together for the ride. Anyway I am not all that worried I am not going over there to win any racing championships or anything it is all about fun to me and the rest of you can think what you want. I have not been on a quad in the dunes since I was 13 years old and am now 31 so, if anything hold me back it will be simple lack of riding the dunes unlike the guys that are on them all the time.

Wow guys take it easy, I was just teasing;) I'm sure it will be fine. After all it is all about having a great time (trust me you will) and riding with friends. Sorry if you took offence, I owe you a beer..or three. That 700 will make it up choke easy. Truthfully I have ridden with a v-force and it hauls in drags and hill climbs. Ripping through the bowls,jumping and mx type of riding it has a little harder time. Plan on riding hard, tina's(quadjunkies) husband Troy rips. You won't have any trouble with a old guy like me.
Good luck on your sand tires, You will want them at Saint A's. One of my buddies just bought the sand stars and hates them. How about some sand sharks or kenda trackers, both are cheap and I have friends that like them. Stock front tires will work fine. I am looking foward to meeting you guys. We had a blast last year.

Yeah, I got a little defensive as I have been called a few names I will not repeat, lazy, and told that the 700 is nothing but a fat old man or wifes bike here in the last few days on here and it is starting get to me. Most of the time that don't bother me because I know this bike is awsome but, when you get it on every post you reply to it just gets old.

I am really looking forward to this trip but, you shouldn't talk about beer because if we start the beer to early we will never ride:D . I hope to come out of this trip with a bunch of new friends and good people to chat with. I will agree that the V does not really stack up in woops and jumping (atleast on stock shock).

What is it that your friend does not like about the Sand Stars? This is the first set of paddles I have ever bought and am just tring to get the best I can while keeping cost down since I only get to the once a year or so.

Hey Jay,

My friend with the sand stars says he doesn't like the extra wedge paddle between the regular paddles. ( basicly the same design as the Gecko's) It kicks up too much sand and does not slide well. I run the sand skate II"s on my pred and really like them. They are a little more $$ though. I really think the best for the money is the sand sharks. I have ridden several quads with them and the perform very well. If you are going to get better go with the sand skates, or haulers.

I know what you mean about everyone here putting down anything but Honda. They are the same with the predator too. I was just having fun with you. All that really matters is you are happy with your quad. Hard to not like a 700 v-twin:) I wish it would have come out with a manual trans, I might be riding one myself. Not to worry about the beer, I can multi-task. Ask quadjunkies. By the way her and Troy are great. One thing about these trips, there are riders of every ability. It must be fun or I wouldn't be willing to drive 16 hours to get there.

I am glad I still have a couple months to decide on a paddle because I just can't decide what I want to do thanks for the info thou.

I really like the Predator, it is what I wanted when I got rid of my EX but, I have a reacuring problem with my wrists that may require surgery again and the not shifting really, really helps so I went with another V and have not been sorry so far. Tina seems very cool and I can't wait to meet her and Troy. I think she will get along very well with my wife. Believe me I have done my far share of multi-tasking also so, I figure we will be fine. I have between 14-16 hrs to drive from ND to over there too but I am as sure as the day is long that it will be the best vacation I have taken in a very long time.

I really envy you guys and going to the dunes all the time:( . My buddy is over in Oregon riding now and then is stoping down in Cali and then maybe stopping at ST. As also. He likes to rub it in by emailing me pictures of his days:grr: :mad: :macho .

Well guys, good news I finally got my quad put back together after losing 4th gear. I'll tell you what though, some of those damn nuts are on so tight from the factory that it's unbelievable. I sure hope that nothing bad happens to my predator again, but if it does i know all the ins and outs of that thing now so it won't be no problem:D I also thought that this thing could use a bump back up since nobody's said anything in awhile. Can't wait to get down there.

Im still not sure if I can make it over there or not.... I really want to really bad but i don't know if work is going to alow it. Trust me Im going to try!:) As for the baby, she is getting big. It so cool having her around! Even though all she wants to do is eat, sleep, and well you know..:D She is starting to smile and coo alot more so that makes it fun.

yeha!!!!!! Well i did some research last night as pi$$ed off as i was and learned that i need to change the needle since we need to get alot richer than we are. Also a minor adjustment of the air mixture screw and we should be A-OK.:blah: Can't wait to test that thing out with the new carb and CDI!!!!!!! Should be close to 65 hp now:macho :devil:

I don't think the girls will have much trouble keeping up what with QJ and her 426 and my wife with her V. Man, things are just getting to exciting to handle, we have our first race EVER next Sunday and this awsome trip is only 2 months away. I am jsut like this every day now:D :D :D :D

Im going to TRY to get over there but if I go I wont be there until late Friday the 18th or early sat the 19th. Im going to half to do some MAJOR butt kissing at work.. to pull this one off! The biggest problem is it takes 13-14 hours to get there, so that takes two days going there and back.....dunesurfer knows what I mean.:D
And the other problem is the next weekend after that I have reservations at WincesterBay..... ONE of the trips got to go :(

It will be good to meet you guys. I am a Oregon boy myself. You will like the dunes at st A's. I have not ridden the Oregon dunes but ride I Glamis all the time and both are good. I might try to visit my family in Medford this summer and head over to the dunes from there. Nice quad by the way. I loved my elka's. I had them on a 400ex and they worked great.

It's getting pretty close:D I went to Glamis this weekend to test my shock set up. It was sweet. Nobody there and ninty degrees. Smooth sand as far as you could see. I caught a flat landing after a 40 ft jumpoff the top of a dune and payed with a broken helmet visor and some really sore ribs. Not cracked, I hope. I am getting to old for that stuff:(
Quad ran good and the shocks were much better than how they started. It's just about ready to go and so am I.

Talked with my aunt, and she said she will be able to get 5 days off from work. So we were thinking about leaving after she gets out from work around 3pm, driving til 12 or 1 and staying the night somewhere; being there as early as we can on the 18th. Riding til tuesday, and leaving late in the day after riding... getting home on wednesday with a day for my aunt to rest before going back to work. Seems like most people will be riding from the 18th-22/3?

Tina~~ NO i haven't got it running yet, but i'm trying my best. It just gets so frustrating when things don't work right. Three days ago i replaced everything in the transmission because that thing was still messing up and now i can't even get it to run to try it out. I'm gonna go through it all today and hopefully i can find out the problem. I also just got a new set of hipers in for it, but no sense putting those on when it's not running either. I'll keep you updated.

ok, well i checked the throttle stuff and all that is good, and i might have made some progress, but it's still not right yet. If i just touch the start button and pull off of it real quick, it will spark some, but if i hold the ignition down so that it will turn over a bunch of times then there is nothing. It sounds really strange, so if anyone can help me i would really appreciate it. Thanks!!!!

BSracing Do you have a kill switch hooked up to it???
If Troys kill switch is NOT plugged in,thats EXACLTY what it will do.... Troy has the Polaris kill switch so the wiring is already built in.Hope this helps maybe????

Well, a week after my last ride I think I might have cracked three ribs. (ouch) I was hoping I might have just pulled a muscle or something, Still way to sore for that. I just hope I heal up in time for this trip. Ok class what did we learn? Find a steep downhill landing on any jumps over about 25-30 feet.

after the CDI there is a 3 wire plug. Red(power) Brown(ground) Black(engine kill) Well I bypassed the black wire by running a jumper wire and then it started right up. What that means is that either that black wire is broke somewhere, ignition box is broke, or my engine kill switch box is broke somewhere. I think it is the ignition though because when i rolled it the stem was bent into the tank which bent that ignition box right under the key hole which is bent and tweaked. But until i find out what exactly it is, i'll just keep that black wire bypassed so that i can ride.:blah: I'm getting my hipers on right now too:macho Well can't wait to meet you guys.

Also one more question for you guys tina, what gearing are you guys running for the dunes?? and what size and type of paddles are you gonna be running??

I use a full tank and one five gallon can riding all day sat. at glamis and a 1/2 sun.day at Glamis. I always put the extra gas in my truck. Five gallons a day is more than enough. For a four stroke anyways.

Thats how we usually do it heck we got several days to enjoy it ......;)

As for paddles.... I think Troy runs the Extreme haulers 20 inch with 8 or 9 paddles and will run the Sand Star fronts......

How much gas you plan on bringing for the 2 strokes, if you have ridden there before (sounds like you have). Just trying to get an idea of fuel usage.. don't want too much, but definately don't want too little.

I might get another set of paddles before I go. Sooo glad I don't need race gas.

25 gallons is good..My friend has a 310ESR also and he took 15 gallons of trick. We went for 4 days and he did fine. But if you guys are going to be hitting Choke up once a day or twice or drag racing then you will burn gas easy. let's see.. Going to choke and back will burn one tank on the 310R..oh yeah that's racing up choke twice and adding a gallon of trick up there...The good news is that he ran out of gas in the whoops section but he still had reserve. Hopefully that will help anyone out with the 2 stroke.

oh as far as dbs go they dont have a limit but if u have a loud quad with lets say drag pipes they want you to idle through the parkng lot.
they require spark arresters but its not enforced there r signs but they dont really care that much we use to have a drag banshee with straigt pipes with no silencers or spark arresters and the cops just told us to idle in the parking lot.

I hope so, I'm usually pretty average at the drags. Resolved some problems I had with drag races I've done before. When I did poorly it was with a shift shaft/shifter with 1 inch of slop in it, gearing that was way to fast of shifting (13/39, now I have 14/38) so now my shifting is more broad. Also with the ignition system and finally an aftermarket reed cage I should notice more top end.:macho
Also I usually have a big problem wheelying.. so I always half to back off the launch a bit... again, hope the gearing will help some. It seems like St anthony's will have a ton more long distance drags (the better to get into 6th with :blah: )Just hoping everything will come together well with my bike now.. and I can actually tune it half decently lmao.

Troys mechainic done some Adj. on his Valves last week cause they were too tight,maybe something went wrong...:eek2: I guess we will find out this week....

ARGHHHHHH:mad: why why why.
my dads motor siezed again when he was breaking it in. he's been having bad luck. the weekend before last a bolt in the flywheel came out and shot out of the motor then he gets it fixed and his motor siezes. both of these happened at steck park. that place must have somthing against my dad we almost had to go home right away after the motor siezed. the valve in the valve stem of the raptor was stuck open. luckly i was able to fix it. we rode and had fun but my dad is aggrivated he just wanted to break in his r again. he misses that thing.

It just had to blow right before the trip.:( I know how he must feel. I had just rebuilt my 4oo ex and the first time out I cracked the case jumping. After fixing it I sold it and bought a Predator. Man this trip sounds like alot of Fun..I am from Pocatello Idaho and St. An's is only about 1 hour or so away..it would be an easy trip to make, but I dont know anyone from here so it would be kinda awkward..Maybe I will just make the trip to see what everyone has and what they will be riding..anyways who knows..maybe I will meet up with some of ya there..

Don't even worry about not knowing anyone. I didn't when I came last year and everybody was very cool. Great groop of people,easy to get along with and there are riders of every ability. Go, you will have fun.

That's great news Tina. We are pretty much ready to go, we leave North Dakota Tuesday night sometime (15 June). We were wondering if there are any plans for everyone having lunches or whatnot at St A's... and whether everyone is providing their own or if we should bring some stuff to share with everybody. Also if there is anything else that we could bring along to share in the group...:confused:

We will be leaving on Thursday, most likely around 12 in the afternoon. We should be there as early as possible on Friday. We were planning on heading straight out to St A's unless we get there in the morning; in that case we will check in first.
