First off make sure you keep steady throttle.If you're nose diving even then, then try a little extra blurp on the face. I usually let off as soon as I'm in the air and then give it gas right before I land. That brings my nose up.

Front Brakes, Rear Brakes, Or it doesn't matter? I have heard those tips before but it was for dirt bikes I figured they wouldn't work as well on a quad because of the power to weight ratio was a little lower.

Rear break puts the nose down.

Most importantly, don't rush into it. If you only rode 4 times then take your time and get really comfortable with it first.

With my 400ex, it always "bucked" and nosedived if I hit the jump normally. I had to blip the throttle on the lip of the jump to fly straight.

So hit it at mid-3/4 throttle then as soon as you go to leave the jump, blip the throttle.

Some of it could depend on your riding stance. I would learn to get familiar with the RAP (Rider Attack Position). It gives me a better center of gravity and I don't feel like I'm going to pop right off the quad if something were to happen. I wouldnt worry so much about the braking in the air, until you get more comfortable. I remember the hardest part for me when learning to jump was making myself stay on the gas long enough to avoid nosing down. When in Doubt, Gas it Out!!

In the sand, staying on the gas through the jump is critical. You loose a lot of momentum if you let off on the face of the jump.

oh yeah the few times I have caught air was on accident, we have 11 acres here and 2 doubles and I normally just ride over them. I find myself getting a little more speed each time I go over them and a few times I guess I had a little too much speed cause I felt myself in the air just a little bit and def. nose diving. We have some smaller hills maybe only 1 or 2 feet high and thats where I wanted to start. But I have learned how to pop a wheelie, and I learned that full throttle in first gear and then letting off the clutch while trying to do a wheelie results in my on my tail and the 4 wheeler getting away on its own :D

That sounds like an awesome idea, but I am about 98% positive my wife would choke me if I did that, especially if I tell her Im driving to meet a girl so she can give me riding lessons. Thanks for the offer just the same :D

Sometimes the dirtbikers do, they hit it from one side of the burm to the other like a doube. Thats a big *** burm though probably a good 7-8 ft tall at least.

we had about 20 inchs from when it started to the next night about same time all together we had 22inchs here it was so deep i was riding my dads kfx700 since my 450r was in shop and it was like a big snow plow

Thats why i love Utah. 20 minutes north of this place there is a foot of snow. this is a nice winter get away. just dropped down the hill behind us. there are some sweet wash outs all over kinda fun to ride on the rocks. the snow is still fun to ride in just really cold.

Took KissMyAce's advice from back around page 200. Although I didn't get any personal lessons from her given the conversation that followed. Still too scared to hit anything faster than second gear or gets me more than a few feet off the ground but at least Im not nose diving anymore :).

Its a great place to ride, it has easy all the way up to extreme trails, good mix. The place is pretty big, when we go its usually in late june and rarely run into other riders on the trails, so you have a lot of space and time to do anything you want. That is just one of the many sets of spider trails they have. They are killer to latch it back and haul *** up, some aren't too crazy and you blast up them with somewhat ease, then they have the real fun kind that take a lot of fandanglin to get up. Then there's the kind you start to go up and wish you wouldn't have haha, you learn to go around those.

Place isnt bad if you know where you're going, but if you just keep riding getting deeper and deeper in the woods you're gonna wind up in some sh$t with no way out. You gotta pay attention there, you'll get halfway up a hill then it'll turn into a straight up cliff, i've come upon many a hill going down that just dropped off into some rocks.

WAS fun, yes! last friday they put a fence around the whole thing because someone got hurt. its all surrounded by big rocks and there are only maybe 4 spots to get down, and all 4 spots they placed big rocks half the size of a car all over. so now i have no where to ride :mad:
