On the Pro-am level of the 2009 GNCC series,
Josh Kirkland has been smoking the competition.
Last year Kirkland finished third in the points
race, but this year he has taken two wins and
has been on the Pro-am podium at every round.
Kirkland attributes a lot of his success this
season to his new ride and support. “The
support has really helped me a lot this year,
especially with the bike set up. Tim is really
knowledgeable and dose everything he can to
make sure we have what we need to be successful,”
said Kirkland.
Although Kirkland admits that having the
support of the team has taken off a lot of
pressure for him in some areas, he does feel
there are other pressures that take their
place. “Tim is really laid back and
he stresses for us to just go out there and
have fun, but since I’m part of the
team now, I do feel a little more pressure
to do well, but that is pressure I put on
myself because I really want to do a good
job and not let them down,” he said.

Josh Kirkland hasn't finished below
2nd place all season in the XC2 Pro-Am
Class with two wins & three runner
up finishes, which has Kirkland holding
the points lead by just 4 points over
Brian Wolf after five rounds of racing |
Kirkland only had three weeks to get used
to his new KTM 450XC before the first round
of the GNCC in Florida, he admits it was a
pretty easy switch for him. “I can’t
say enough about the bike. It’s by far
the best that I have ridden. When I first
got the quad I couldn’t really tell
if I was faster or not, but at the first round,
there was no question it helped me be faster,”
he said. Now with his points lead, Kirkland
is eager to take the Pro-am championship.
“Having the points lead has definitely
given me even more motivation to do well.
I’m training hard and I’m hoping
to be on top at the end of the season,”
he concluded.
“Josh has done a fantastic job so far
this year. He has been consistent and is a
really great asset to the team,” said
Tim Farr enthusiastically.
Kirkland hopes to remain consistent in his
finishes through the rest of the season and
stay on the podium so he can achieve his goal
of taking his first XC2 Pro-am Championship.
